And if garlic for a couple days is proven to speed cold recovery this does not automatically = taking garlic every day all winter lessens risk of contracting a cold.
    Are you antigarlic?

garlic is delicious and the science backs up the immune support stuff, here ya go peer reviewed and all (I only read the abstract so far)....

"In this review, we assess the most recent experimental results, which indicate that garlic appears to enhance the functioning of the immune system by stimulating certain cell types"

I think I'll wait on some data before I start smelling like ass.

"human clinical studies are scarce and methodologically weak, with short duration and a reduced number of patients. "

The full sentence at the end of that paper:

“Although there is sufficient scientific evidence on the beneficial effects of garlic as therapy under different pathological conditions in animal models, human clinical studies are scarce and methodologically weak, with short duration and a reduced number of patients. Therefore, it is mandatory to establish general criteria to finally probe the variety of nutritional and health-promoting properties of garlic.”

There’s interesting stuff in there but the jury is still out - more research is needed.
