If any of that plan falls apart, I’ll ski y’all in Switzerland on my own dime.

tgapp should definitely walk through this door that the Universe has opened.
Should you come to the PNW Puget Sound, we've got room to park and lots of extension cords.

    And yeah, t, do it.

What a beautiful way to put it.

As you venture from east to west be sure to swing by the legendary Christie Mountain. 300 feet of vertical. One fixed grip double plus a t-bar. Your rig can just drive across the frozen lake and camp on my island. Partytime.

I most certainly want a “I skied with Harry” t-shirt to go with my newly acquired “License to Thrill” varsity jacket! Partytime indeed.

Fuck yeah folks. We've passed the $1600 mark which was the target for the first skolarship. Proud of this place.

Fundraising running to Dec 20th. Plenty of time to sell those skis you haven't used in two season and put a % towards the fund. Any donation is meaningful.

Nominations still come in through Nov 3rd. So if you've got 'em, make 'em.

Remember, any donation amount comes with some FKNA brand coffee. DM tgapp to arranage.

Singlecross- Upon making it just a tad further than the Donner Party, we have a flat spot for you on Donner Summit if you want to ski near the Big Lake.

Wow. Thanks for the nomination, Danno. I was pretty floored by it and didn't know quite what to say.

My contributions here are simply to keep the community going. It is because of threads like this that I am reminded that the forums go way beyond a place to waste time or call names (even if Core Shot deserves it), that it is a network that fully transcends the ones and zeroes into meatspace, where friendships and memories have been made and forged on wild adventures in deep snow, in cars on heinous drives, and over beers at a local bar to handoff gear to a former stranger.

My year has had all of the best qualities of gum stuck to dog shit stuck to a new pair of kicks, but I am hoping that it's about to turn around by dumb luck in the Jillions, and maybe more realistically, a job!

If the collective deemed me worthy I don't even know what to say. The real prize, of course, is the life-long friends I've already made along the way.

Thanks for getting this started for another year. Looking forward to at the very least throwing in ASAP and seeing tgapp's bonkers TR of the finest fake hostels accessible by Eurorail (or whatever amazingness he comes up with, even if it's "just" some steep and deep turns powered by dank beans).

    I second this.
Ex-powderbroker(and danno) keep as much of the box fan running as they can from afar.
Dozens of hours spent trying to keep this place up and running year after year.
TGR corporate gives zero fucks about this forum and offer zero support. Ex-BP goes so far above and beyond behind the scenes with no recognition
He really deserves this the most of anyone I have seen nominated with all due respect to the others nominated

I'll+3 ex PB, while echoing his comments about how humbling it is to get nominated. Dude has always been super super kind, I absolutely love his climbing stoke, and he's reached out to me in moments of need just to express empathy and concern. Solid mag.

this place here is pretty special.

Just donated again. Thanks for the coffee beans tgapp.
Inspired me to get one of those ceramic stove top roasters. I tried it last night and I made an undrinkable smokey ashy disaster.
I'll try again soon but thanks for the inspiration!

I'm an idiot and an asshole for not nominating him. Best ski partner I ever had. He drove with me and my dog from Brooklyn to CO in a Penske truck when I moved here 8 years ago. It's a damn shame we haven't skied together since. Donated again.

Mag ima gaper paid more than my asking price for a pad I'm selling so I threw the money into the fundraiser. I'm hoping my bucks get spent by expb in some sleezy swiss titty bar. Do they even have sleezy swiss titty bars? Hopefully exPB can find out and report back to us

Hot diggity, we're up to $2358! That's pretty amazing you buncha Dentists you.

Oh puhleeeeeeze, I know we're not all dentists but it seems like it sometimes. One thing's for certain, there's a lotta goodwill around here.

Thank you to all who have pitched in. These contributions are hopefully gonna help some mags lighten their load for a few, take a breather, enjoy some life with new friends in a really special place.

I've been fortunate to live my entire adult life in JH, so going to ski elsewhere has been no big draw. This skolarship that was given to me and 3 other mags, was a huge eye opener about skiing on this planet.
I am now 110% behind getting others who are passionate about skiing to experience it.

This fund is how we are accomplishing that goal.

So thanks again my brothers and sisters.

We've got a ways to go but I see nothing stopping us now...

Anything above the goal is for the Hookers and Blow shenans at the Mt. Lodge.
Are you signed up for that yet?

BBI Euro began in 2019 when Mt Lodge made the fateful offer to host a bunch of mostly-US ski fiends of various levels of dirtbaggery. It is now a yearly celebration of the goodness of community, huge mountains, and skiing set in a truly special spot in the Swiss Alps. Over the past few years, mags have organized to send other mags to share in the abundance of vertical, food, camaraderie, and stoke that makes the gathering. This is the latest iteration of Stoke Dreams fundraising for BBIEuro 2024.

The main BBIEuro 2024 thread: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...59#post6919659

    Fundraising
    GoFundMe link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/stoke-dreams-2024

No minimum amount to donate. Get creative. Sell some old gear taking up space in your closet and donate all or a percent of profits to Stoke Dreams.

The goal is to fund 2 mags at a level that makes experiencing the primo ski experience of Switzerland while staying at Mt Lodge accessible to more folks. We recognize that this level varies a lot depending on where a mag lives, their life situation, and all kinds of other shit. The target for this year is $1600 per ski skolar. Hopefully, this covers a flight (<$1k), and 5 nights of double occupancy, and breakfast/lunch at Mt Lodge. Ideally with a few sheckles to spare.

If any additional multiples of $1600 are raised, additional ski skolars will be added. Any funds between increments will be split amongst the skolars and a general stoke fund entrusted to long-established BBIEuro mags for use in increasing stoke (guide fees, gifts for hosts, bar tabs, espressos, etc).

    Nominations, Selection, etc
Nominations should be posted in this thread (not main BBI Euro or PMs). +1 and add context to any nominations you particularly want to support.

We'll give skolars the opportunity to accept or decline. Do so either in the thread or via PM. Make sure you can work out the logistics of getting to Euro land. Get on the flight. Tell Vendul you're coming. Take some ski clothes. Everything else can work out.

The will of the collective directs the decision-making. We're not doing a poll or votes or any of that chicanery.

Skolars are responsible for the use of the funds. Pics, TRs and general stoke appreciated but not required.

    Timeline
Getting this done early helps people make efficient plans. With that in mind.

All nominations in by Nov 3.

Potential ski skolars have til Nov 10 to confirm if they are in or out.

Initial disbursement to Ski Skolars mid-November (so they can buy flights.)

Fundraiser wraps Dec 20th. Final disbursement after that.

Thanks for the bumps and donations ya'll. Like Djongo getting to Europe with this crew was a special moment. The hospitality of Vendul, his better half and the whole Mt Lodge scene was the sort of ski vacation I'd always dreamed of.

Still about a month open for nominations. Donations will run for another two months. If we can get to two skolarships by the end of nominations I'll do an immediate withdrawal and transfer of initial funds to help mags buy tickets. Remainder distributed later.

So who do we have as potential skolarship recipients so far?

We need some more suggestions please.

Who do you know that has had a less than ideal year and/or could use a hand up?

Maybe an old ski bum who never had a chance to ski the big world and should before they can't anymore.

Or a mag that brings a ton of stoke to the forum and deserve a good time...

C'mon, it's time to kick out the jams motherfuckers.
