Does the Boa brand limit what you can do at these points? Did you (or Matt) ever mess around with friction-reducing elements, like using little roller sheaves etc, to control the cable tension distribution?
At this time what we can do is rather restricted by what boa allow us to use but of course we have experimented. The system we have works really well though and the fact that the parts are universal and easily available is huge bonus. If we go down the custom component route in the future we would lose this ease of aftermarket service which is so great.

I tried on some Salomon Supras in-store. I have a pretty high instep, wide (2E) feet up front, and a relatively normal (in terms of volume) heel.

They were remarkably comfortable in the store. You can really dial in the BOA to be as form-fitting or loose as you want. I went ahead and ordered a pair for resort skiing. I usually get 30-40 days of resort skiing in per season (I am jealous of you who get more). I will report back if something goes disastrously wrong or if I make it to the end of the season and everything went well.

I think BOA will be game-changing for those of us with higher volume feet and higher insteps.

ID:	480647I’ve been using the k2 recon 130 boa. I’ve been absolutely nothing but happy. Fit has been fantastic being able to dial in and out tightness has been great. The boot really wraps your foot rather than closes down on your feet like buckles. Nailed a tree branch when skiing in tights and hit the boa right on the dial. A little wood pieces but no damage and the knob stayed on the boot

I am not surprised boa is taking over, but the massive dials seem excessive. I’m Hoping they work out a more compact ratchet system that doesn’t jut out so far from the shell, but wtf do I know , maybe it’s a non issue

we sold a bunch of Boa last year, in a resort town

    1) non of our boots own boots had issues

    2) no visiting boas had issues

    3) Boa gave us a BIG box of parts at no charge to replair/replace as needed

Not saying its perfect, and its just another way to do up a boot, but overall no issues

it’s honestly the perfect size. It doesn’t jut out far at all and it’s large enough you can easily adjust them with gloves on if needed. Any smaller and you have to remove gloves and really fiddle with it. Would also make it a lot more likely to break if it was smaller.
