Fat bike?!? This is Switzerland we're talking about, man - the bike paths will be plowed, heated, and dried. 😎

Can you hook me up with sweet dee?

Car rental can have its advantages if you're going to a number of places, you're travelling at weird hours, there's a few of you on the same itinerary, you're in a rush. Other than that relax and do it Euro style.

Question: do I need to get cash at the Zurich airport? Or will I be able to use my credit card for absolutely everything on the trip? I'm totally accustomed to using my credit cards everywhere, so it won't be hard for me to keep doing that, but I don't want to find myself somewhere -- like an on mountain restaurant -- without cash and needing it to get some delicious cheese and beer.

If I do need cash, I assume there will be plenty of ATMs around (I'm not super worried about fees, just worried about needing money and being able to get it). And about how much cash will I need for a week?

Yep. The Game of Cones is still strong here.

And I live about a mile or so from Johns. It's still good

never get cash at the airport. total ripoff

use cc and cash cards, let your bank do the conversion. basement of andermatt train station has cash machines.

I’m pretty sure the only cash needed will be to pay and tip the guides. I still like to have a couple of hundred francs on me just in case though.

Yup - we did cash-pulls from major bank ATMs, which seemed to be kind of everywhere in Switzerland.

Danno - you might even check to see if there are any "partner" banks to your own in the States to try to minimize fees/exchange costs.

CC generally for everything. I’d take some for the guides and bring an extra 20 or 50 just in case (e.g., some random buses, like to Pischa in Davos, only take cash).

Danno ,in general for most international travel, see if any of your CCs don't have a foreign transaction fee, use that for everything you can , and always pay in local currency. Your CC will give you the best exchange rate. Even selecting dollars on the CC machine will typically use the foreign banks conversion rate, which is not as good.

Thanks, yeah, I'm all set with the credit card side, just didn't know if I could use it 100% and if not, how much cash to get. I guess I'll grab some cash when I see an ATM.

I'm just about zipped and ready to rip.

Finally decided to haul my own skis: M102's and the Ole Super7's.
My fat skis will not be a-flappin, 2 sheets of Milspec Adamantium and the 102's have a sheet of imported, tailored Vibranium.

Pleezdeerbebejeebuz, If you can just make this transit over easy on me, I'll pray to you at the Disentis Abbey.
Last 5 days have sucked a mega Donk.
