This the first video that I’ve seen showing an overview of some of the damage.

Hopefully the all inclusives and snow bird condos provided a buffer zone for the locals.

Right? Let's hope. Holy shit there's a lot of those buildings, I had no idea.

I had no idea either. It’s still the first overview video I’ve seen of the damage. There’s a lot of water in the background. Is that a bay/estuary?

My brother in laws family lives in Acapulco. It’s bad. They haven’t been able to talk to them, but have been able to get word that they’re alive and ok. They’re lucky, financially, they have other living options in Mexico and Spain. It’s just a matter of getting out I think. Tita, my BIL’s mom lived in the house he grew up in, a couple of blocks inland from the beach, until a few years ago. She sold it when her husband passed away and bought a condo on the water. His brother & his family also lived on the water. Sounds like their building may be standing, but that’s about it. I’ll get the full recounting from my sister soon, but I can’t imagine. I’ve only visited there once, but it was a cool place to visit, bay surrounded by the mountains.

I hope your family is ok.

Peralta has several Twitter posts from today. Sounds like they’re also issuing reports on npr:

Thanks. Everyone that wanted to leave is out and safe. Some of the nephews drove from Mexico City yesterday to get her and take supplies. My brother in law’s mother rode the storm out in the bathroom in the middle of her condo. The part that faces the ocean completely blew out and the back wall too. She’s ver lucky. It’s crazy. I can’t even imagine.

That video is from the beach area south of the "city", close to the airport (see circled area).
The water in the background is the Laguna de Tres Palos.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.</p>

    Hurricane 2023

    Thanks.

I read yesterday they are still in body recovery mode and just starting to address provisions of basic needs for survivors.
