PSA bike rack causing brakes to lock up when reversing

Wife got a VW atlas. Fun peppy suv.
Put on a hitch rack and it slams on the brakes and snaps your neck when you reverse the car.

Took a while to goog a solution. But it’s found now.

Amazingly it doesn’t defeat the backup camera. Until now we’ve been trained to defeat the proximity sensors when backing up. Which is a PITA.
Worse yet, when you do that in the atlas it also shuts off the backup camera! Wtf VW!!

I just turned off the nanny settings in our Atlas for our bike rack and because it once tried to take over and ram me into a barrier in a construction area at 70mph. no purchase necessary.

It's POS SUV for a few reasons, we are selling it once the new Toyotas all come out.

That's lame. My Ford does lots of alarms when I go into reverse with a hitch rack, but you just tap a button on the touchscreen to temporarily disable brake assist. I almost never have a hitch rack on, so I prefer to leave it on and disable it on a case-by-case basis.
