The only people who think this was the right decision are just high on the smell of SEC farts.
Bama is fucking wild this year. Box of chocolates. They can play like the #1, or play like an unranked. I think they have the highest upside, but also lowest average of any team in the playoffs.

Zero chance this FSU team could beat UGA last week. Also near zero chance that FSU team would almost lose to Auburn.

FSU has the worst "best day" of any team in the top 8. Bama has the worst "average day" and "worst day" of any team in the top 8. And Texas played no one and is just happy to be there.

You think that the same old teams being ranked and playing for the CFB year after year after year after year entirely because of the complete lack of parity represents unpredictability?

    Ooookay...

You see teams, i see players. Is bama's team this year at all the same as last year? No. Every year a college football team is wildly different because of new players but also because these young men are still maturing physically and mentally so they themselves are wildly different year to year.

I love college football for the players and the game, not the universities. I see too many people gripe about seeing the same old teams at the top every year... but that is completely false. You see the same universities at the top, but the teams are very different year to year, the same universities just tend to field the top teams year in and year out.

And i think its really cool and exciting how a top tier college player can take over a game and singlehandedly significantly raise the level of the whole team to win a special game, or make a special play because they are just heads and tails the best player on the field. In the NFL, everyone is so damn good that you almost never have that talent gap so you dont get those special performances.

Bo Nix says he will play! Props for him! Caleb Williams is a nah man.. He did play OU's 2020 bowl and won it on the way out west.

Top tier D1 football just needs to rip off the band-aid and become its own entity.

There’s 120+ “D1” teams and in any given year only 10-20 of those have a shot at being champ. I love catching some Midweek MACtion, and there’s some players in there that will go pro, but come on, Miami, Kent St., Buffalo et al aren’t competing in the same realm as tOSU, Texas or Oregon, so why live in that world anymore with those rules/constraints?

Does anyone call a D-IA high school team that won state anything other than champs since they’re not D-1AA (or whatever stratification they may be)?

Just let the big programs go fight for committee blessings and whatnot and let the other 80+ schools go back to being collegiate athletes (and regional conferences).

His NIL deal will pay him more than a QB drafted outside the top 10 (or even 1st round). I’m not sure props are in order for 6th year transfer other than for making a smart financial decision.

If NIL pays them more to play in a meaningless bowl than sitting out (ala Williams) that's a good thing IMHO..

If NIL pays them more to play in a meaningless bowl than sitting out (ala Williams) that's a good thing IMHO.. Those bowl game tickets are expensive. I get that players don't want to risk injury for nothing but fans paying big money for tickets should get to see the players they paid to see. Good solution.

I'm all for seeing the top players play in bowl games, and the collectives paying NIL money (and more importantly, their businesses behind them) want "their" guy out there earning his $ (exposure), and notwithstanding the threat of injury it's just that much more tape a guy on the fringe of the first round can put in the can as well. So yeah I think its a win for fans, boosters and players.

Williams is a lock for top 5 in the draft where Bo Nix is pretty hard to predict, anywhere from 15 to the third round so anything to help his exposure at this point AND a fat check with a solid insurance policy against injury makes this game worth it for him. Keep in mind the Ducks need all the help they can get for fans to attend the bowl game. Talk about getting fucked, playing MF'in Liberty at 10 AM on new years day ? What fucking brilliant brain surgeon thinks this shit up ???!!!!

DeSantis is requesting $1M in the 2024 Florida budget so that FSU can sue the CFP committee.

As someone living out west, I love the late night games and hate day games. Day games are a waste of my time where as night games I can be productive and have fun under the sun then chill at night watching football. The late games suck to attend in places like Eugene, Corvallis and Pullman, because the fan bases generally live on other areas and those towns don’t have enough hotel beds to accommodate all the fans.

All fans bitch about early games.. Mostly because it kills the tailgating and pre game drinking vibe. And that's 11am for Central time zone to be noon East Coast when they all start hahaha.. A noon east coast time kickoff for you is especially brutal. I can usually have all my weekend errands run and be sitting with wings and pizza by noon east coast time..

When the kids were involved in stuff I missed a lot of games. The always had a scout hiking and camping trip OU/Texas Saturday...

His largest NIL deal has no provision for bowl games. This appears to be pure enjoyment on his part.

It is against the rules to tie NIL money to play time in any way, shape or form. Once they sign those deals, they can pretty much do anything they want.

Good info on the NIL deals not being tied to playing time or bowls.

Back on the crime of the century.. I actually wonder why The Committee didn't finish the screw job by putting FSU in the bowl against Liberty instead of Oregon.. If you're going to fuck someone over why go half way?

Because if they get boat raced by Georgia, the committee can throw their hands up and say, “See, they couldn’t even hang with the SEC runner up. We got it right.”

Bowl tie-ins set the UGA - FSU match up. But also because if FSU goes 14-0 they can, and should, claim a national title and the committee is even further exposed. It’s much less likely they beat UGA than Libertybiberty. FSU does have the defense to beat UGA though.

What if Libertybibberty beats OR way worse than WA did.. and WA wins the playoff? They've got the same chances Alabama has of beating the Carolina Panthers amirite?

There's actually more than a decent chance Oregon loses. Kids DO NOT want to play some shit opponent and can check out mentally starting as soon as that game was announced. Happens every year at bowls.
OTOH, no self respecting NFL scrub would ever lose to a college team. Keep in mind if you take the very best 4 year cycle at Alabama they might have 20-25 NFL level talent playing a NFL 53 man roster of best of the best college players. Nobody can be that stupid.....

This transfer portal shit is pretty wild. Now thousands of players in the transfer portal.

This is really going to change schools and traditions forever. That was one of the best things about college football, the school traditions when it comes to the students, athletes and fans. Now, just seems like teams are shuffling half the roster out every year. Going to be hard to get many athlete alum who have been around a full 4-5 years that will continue school traditions.

Keep in mind only about 100 kids are moving up, most transfer because they aren't playing at their current schools. At least now players have some ability to control their path. Why is it OK for coaches to leave at will and expect the players to be stuck where they started ?
I have a feeling in the next few years after a bunch of kids that enter the portal end up in worse situations or actually end up NOWHERE this will slow down quite a bit.
