This I've heard secondhand... team had highest GPA in team history last spring, players show up early to class, sit up front, hold doors open, etc. This is per some students.
Two things can be true... a confident and sometimes brash attitude need to win, and a culture of discipline, respect, accountability... also needed to win.
I get that he can be polarizing, but if you dig in and listen to the man, there's a whole lot of substance behind the headlines. Part of that is moving on from a 1-11 roster.
    Cool to hear.

If you are not good enough to make the team, you get cut. Deion, on day 1, informed the team that most of the current players would get cut and that they should start looking for somewhere to transfer. IDK how you get mad at him for giving the players the best possible chances for them to land on their feet with another team.
Coaches love to mind fuck with kids and see how many really want to be there. I'm sure if you took a deep dive into kids that left the program many ended up at non power 5 programs. Obviously they were lacking talent as well as poor coaching to end up 1-11. Prime was just up front about it rather than being PC, wait till mid season to run kids off where they actually lose another full season. He did them a big solid in my eyes. If you can't handle shit like that don't play big boy football. I think flag football intermural sign up is available online these days unlike the Hawkins days.

As a Carolina undergrad alum who also grew up in Chapel Hill, I disagree. UNC-Duke is basketball. UNC-State is football and baseball. Duke just isn't relevant to us in football and baseball. Case in point: I pulled for Duke to beat Clemson in wk 1, and for ND to beat State last weekend (despite hating ND).

Also part of it is that (real) Duke fans are somewhat rare in the state of NC. They all go back to New Jersey when they graduate lol. Whereas my extended family was full of State grads who were gonna give me crap every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I always cheer for our rivals when they play outside the conference. Only maybe Spurrier at his prime and Saban would part of me want to see them lose just out of spite.

I would say enjoy the 15 minutes Buffs fans. Deion never sticks with anything for more than 3-4 years. Baseball, Football, Both, Football, Church Pastor, Commentator, Coach..

Bob Stoops quit coaching when his kid decided to play to avoid any potential conflict of interest/favortism optics.

3-4 years is enough to revive a dead program as long as the school is willing to commit financially. Oregon State bright in Dennis Erickson in the mid 90's and it changed the course of a dead program.
Prime is probably the best choice for the revival and pass it off to someone who is better at the long term build.

Mike Riley had been at OSU prior to Erickson and had more or less revived the program, maybe revived is too strong, but got it back to wining some games in his two years. Erickson definitely was able to bring in some of the SoCal guys like Ochocinco and got them to the next level, but Riley had done a pretty good job before jumping ship to coach the Chargers.

anyhow, good point about Prime...I'd bee stoked if I was a Buffs fan. I suspect Primetime is hoping to leverage this into an NFL gig eventually, maybe in 3-4 years like you say.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

The thing is, Colorado doesn't seem to be able to support football for the long haul. They've had several good 2-3 year runs.. But they always seem to fall of that pink cloud right back to the gutter for several more years

True about Mike Riley but Erickson has some serious recruiting juice. Ocho Cinco AND TJ Housh in the same class to Oregon State for 11-1 season ???!!??!! Don't forget DE brought in a bunch of NFL level line backer as well.
Mike Riley has proven he can't recruit very well but a great QB whisperer and coach. Erickson was Prime before Prime. Short runs at greatness then bails....

Anyone whining about cutting players from a D1 team that went 1-11 needs to grow a pair. They were treated with respect and that's what matters.

I'll be happy if Deion sticks around for 3 years. CU still needs a lot of work to beat a top 10 team but we'll get there. The energy in Boulder is unreal right now and we needed it. Who cares what happens in a few years. Enjoy the ride.

CU went to a bowl game 17/20 years from 85 to 2005, that's not too shabby. I'll enjoy Primetime as long as I can. Equally stoked to see Midnight Mel in the gutter.

Ya I'm always happy to go to a bowl.. It means you finished at least 6 and 6. It's hardly a perennial top 25 team though.. Honestly, I care more about the players getting an education than I do about conference championships and nattys. And I'm a Sooner..

Midnight Mel needs a new nickname... what a debacle. He managed to spin pubic hair into gold, and then f-ed it all up. Now about to leave $70M+ on the table. Idiocy

Good battle. I lived in Fort Fun and up in Ned in my tenure in Colorado. Bunch of friends on either side of this one. If the Rams can hold on it’ll be one hell of an upset.

Georgia looked terrible today. We had some poor performances last season, too. Just hope we got it out of our system. For a 2x Natty team and coaching staff, they make some fucked up decisions. A freshman kicker? I thought our “kickers don’t matter” days were behind us when Jim Donnan left.

I know most of you don't like my Cougars, but that BYU - Arkansas game was a lot of fun!
