    Looming UPS Strike Scenarios?

I'm toying with the idea of refusing packages from SCAB UPS workers if it comes to that. I fully support collective bargaining. Send the shit back and order it again when UPS settles with the regular workers.

Vendors should also respect the strike by using other couriers like Fed Ex and USPS during the strike. That way it won't hurt them when we send the UPS scab delivered stuff back..

The 2 alternatives will be overwhelmed (FedEx and USPS) and will probably at least in the case of FedEx may in fact be giving priority to existing customers that have had long standing accounts and maybe even not allow some to create new shipping accounts.... Even alternatives like DHL (which pretty much is more international business now and cut back on domestic shipping.) Or more trucking companies or rail and even Greyhound seeing some bumps in volume...

You know Fed Ex is primarily non union and most ground delivery is handled by independent franchisees ? Fed Ex is already messed up and regularly miss their delivery times so IF the strike happens it will really cause delay issues.

There is already an ongoing boycott of FedEx in teh forumz.

USPS is always my preference unless there's a huge price benefit to shipping with UPS.

Fuckn pain in the ass that's going to fuck up my income stream. I sell shit and it gets shipped to them, I get paid upon ship most of the time so if stuff sits in an open cart waiting to leave I wait too. During my peak season no less Fuck.

The highly variable USPS service this past winter was a bitch, but survivable. Now it appears they are launching a new 'USPS Ground Advantage'. This service combines Retail Ground, Parcel Select Ground, and First-Class Package Service. Might be worth considering. I'm not sure how they could possibly handle a huge uptick, however.

Ya Fed Ex was having the independent contracts saying fuck it and emptying their trucks in to ditches while marking it all as "delivered" not too long ago. Glad most of the things I wanted for Prime Day should be here before this toes down. And yes, a lot of our Amazon stuff comes via UPS instead of the Prime trucks..

Just buy less shit. Half the shit we buy we don't really need, i.e. we've got 4 fucking dog leashes and 1 dog.

If you’re not interested a 24/7 dog, perhaps you can look into renting by the hour… maximize your dog enjoyment and minimize your dog maintenance. Fucking win-win.

I'm not sure if this crosses some line in ethics, but I think a puppy rental could work for lonely guys wanting to meet girls in Central Park or places like Venice Beach.

I could use a dog dropped off 5 minutes before I get home and picked up right before it needs an evening walk. No yappy breeds, a Vizsla would be nice.

    Why do you hate America?

That being said, collective bargaining is what makes America great again.

Not using UPS to not be a scab is great, but if you switch to FedEx, that's not great either. Shitty company with a bunch of non-union subcontractors. Both of them seem to hand off to USPS for the local delivery quite often. At least around here. Might as well go right to the union run source. I generally have good results whenever I send something from the PO. YMMV, I guess.

Upon delivery, FedEx in these parts takes a picture of my packages in my oversized delivery bin (next to my mailbox) and then they text them to me.

Ordered something two weeks ago that was shipped DHL by default, it took 5 more business days then they said it would.

The contracted, temporary USPS drivers here are all from Jamaica, as apparently they are the only ones who can pass a piss test.

    Go figure.

UPS guy dropped off my brother’s new trailer hitch today, so I asked him about the strike. He says he makes real good money because of his seniority, but the newer employees are getting screwed royally by management so he 100 percent supports the strike even though he personally will not benefit from it.

    I like his attitude.
