I saw pics that the entire area in front of the building was underwater.

How did your place fare in Weston? I know the green and the areas along the river were underwater.
I did see that pic of red base hadn’t thought of that. Glad all good for you guys.

Mom was there but she’s up out of town so spared ; typical driveway and road washouts but nothing bad compared- thanks. She’s been down at the library and playhouse helping out and I know she’s in the neighborhood connections group so trying to get out to all of her people has been frustrating.

I was going to say "it depends on which part of the NEK you are going to". Eastern NEK (east of the Danville-Willoughby highlands) is fine. West of that is a mess. Hardwick suffered major damage to all roads in and out of town. It is going to be a while before trying to get through there isn't a difficult.

A ski area in SoVT with a base elevation barely above 1,000' that faces due east and southeast does not need a lower base elevation....

    Heh. Fair callout.

The two times I skied there I kept asking myself why.

My parents had a house near Ludlow until a few years ago, and Ludlow was our "primary" town, but I still never skied Okemo.

If we had a maggot gathering and all shit on the okemo summit it might just get enough vert to be worth skiing.

This shit sucks every time. Rt 4 will end up washing out again in another ten years unless the process gets slowed down and done correctly this time. Irene was a real fast slam back together which caused the major damage this time again.

also the state needs to start mitigating beaver swamps and ponds on the mtns, every rain event lately starts to break the dams and send entire ponds rushing at once. The otter creek along rt 7 had never been that high in my entire life and it’s full of dams for 20 miles north to rutland. With as much water that flows to that main River the state and fed have to start stepping up and fixing necessities and quit chasing woke ideology because it’s single handedly killing normal Vermonters.

The most Shube think said on hear in a bit. I got a love hate relationship with that state. My biggest dislike is the head in sand air of superiority that only sees covered bridges and maple syrup. Its a real place with real people and real problems but that doesn't look good on the postcard.

VT Fish & Wildlife have programs for landowners, towns, & road crews to help control beaver ponds, install beaver deceivers, and even have a map of where they are. They have FAQs to guide private landowners how to limit beaver activity, and have regulations to allow trapping.

Stop hanging out with Banyai and educate yourself. This flooding is not about social justice efforts, it’s about unprecedented weather patterns.

It's a cage that goes on the end of a culvert so a beaver can't build a dam within it.

The Baffled Beavers would be a great girl band name too.
