Ouokura had a very simple menu, but everything was outstanding. Tempura dishes were light and crispy. Service was on point.

I’ll start with my absolute go-to’s in Golden, Sherpa House and Bonfire burritos. I have never, ever been disappointed by either.
    Go!
If you like Indian, check out Yak & Yeti (20 min east of Golden, on Wads). Great beer too.

Woody's for pizza/wings and they are opening a new Blue Pan (really good Detroit Style pizza) in Golden this summer. I'm still looking for a good burger joint. Bobs is overrated IMO.

Golden Thai and Amir Grill are also family favorites.

Golden trails suck, everyone knows that, but Aprés... I has some award-winning green chili to wash down those cold beers with.

    Denver Eats

Jesus people. 20 posts about beer in Golden and no one has mentioned Cannonball Creek or New Terrain? Seriously. Do better. Both are excellent.

In Denver go to Cerebral or Comrade. There is not a better brewery than those two in Denver. To get better in the state one would have to go to Outer Range or Weldwerks and both are far away. Or Avery in Boulder.

Not great beer but amazing brewery: Breckenridge in Littleton. Disneyland for beer lovers. Go at least once.

Oh yeah. Liquid Mechanics in Lafayette: honorable mention.

I live a 10 minute walk away from Liquid Mechanics. I like that place.

Chen’s Kitchen next door to Tacos Seline is solid. Also wings from West Hill Grill nearby.

Taqueria La Calle, Pho 95 or Duy, US Thai, Curry Kitchen, La Chiva Columbian, The Ethiopian Restaurant on Colfax, Sukiya Ramen. On the nicer side Bon Ami for happy hour on the patio, Olivia, and Annette. For breakfast the Universal Cafe or Rise and Shine are two of my favorites.

This depends on entirely the style of beer you like. If you’re IPA focused I agree that Cerebral and Comrade are near the top. If you like lagers there are better (Cohesion, Beirstadt, Prost), if you like cask ales there are better (Hogshead), if you like big beers Burns Family Ales is better, if you like sours Trve and Crooked Stave are better breweries.

I think Cannonball is one of the better all around breweries in the metro which is why I mentioned it. New Terrain beer has always been fine but not exceptional—but the brewery setting is dope.

I know virtually nothing about Denver. I will be staying at the Origin Hotel in Westminster for a few days next week. Any recommendations for nearby breweries and restaurants? Gracias.

You're in middle of suburban hell there, so I have no clue if there are any good places. Lord knows that you will have your choice of chain restaurants.

Old Town Arvada is 10-15 minutes drive, and may have good stuff, but that's out of my zone. Southern Boulder is maybe 5+ minutes further, so the Southern Sun/Under the Sun (both part of the Mountain Sun "chain") would be decent choices. Under the Sun is less hippy, slightly more elevated food. Same beer. Lucky Pie in Louisville is about the same distance and has a good tap list and good food. Liquid Mechanics in Lafayette is a minute or two further and has great beer, but rotating food trucks so no idea about the food.

The RINO area of Denver is a similar distance as Boulder and there's good stuff there too (but again, out of my zone).

My drive times may be off a little if driving during rush hour.

You’re in brewery central there. You shouldn’t have a difficult time finding what you want.

Origin is in the new Westminster downtown, that area is a work in progress. At least they have a Sweet Bloom!
Take a short drive up 36 to Burns Pub + 4 Noses.

Good post. Totally right, my picks were highly IPA-centric. I'd argue that if you only like lagers then you don't like beer (heh), but otherwise I agree with everything you said. I do stand behind the statement that Cerebral and Comrade are as technically gifted as any brewery you will find in Denver.

Glad to know these places exist, I'm just up 287 from them. Burns Pub menu looks great.

Arvada Tavern has great cocktails and slightly fancier pub fare. My wife and I used to go there a lot pre-child.
Lady Nomada has good Mexican that is not a complete grease-pile (good for Denver - not sure where you're coming from).

The places mentioned by hatchgreenchile are fairly close, though not walkable.

Similar distance to the ones hatch posted. Short drive. I'll have to check that place out too, since it's a 10 minute drive from me.

when you get in? close to my hood, kinda, Im up near 4 Noses, too bad Im out of town next week (tues-Fri) but would join for a beer Monday. It is suburbia

Kokopelli Beer is walking distance from hotel, good pizza, decent beer. Cool Japanese arcade next door if into that type of thing
CD Wings great wings in a sleezy type of way, its cleaned up alot but grab a bag of wings and head to a brewery
Old town Arvada is a nice walk around, lots of places, Yak n Yeti (also one on wads and 90th) Denver beer for a Mighty burger, Lady Nomada for mexican, you can find something
4 Noses and Burns are nice. Burns is tough to get into though with the condo metro plex across the road that is still growing (fun fact, they tear down First Bank Center next year), cool climbing gym next to 4 Noses also. These places get hammered from 4-6ish with the work crowds around Interlocken
Wonderland Brewing is pretty good up in Broomfield, open place.
Post Chicken is good with a few locations around metro
Jack Bar and Grill / Lot one are in Five Parks west of hotel.

Ive been having beers out at Resolute west on hwy 72 recently, new neighborhood last few years.

If got a wild hair, head up to Knotted Root in Nederland or Howlin Wind in Rollinsville
