I did attend a St8line Adventures training at Alta and Snowbird back around 2007 or so and met several mags.

Yep. Well maybe, what defines a summit? LBDs at Kirkwood. Summer Donner shenanigans. Tahoe MTB rides. SF TGR tailgates. Spats from backpacking before the first maggot hatched. Patch skiing. Mt. Lassen. Random meetups like 10 at 10.

The maggot collective allowed me to overcome strangerdanger enough that I've met great non-maggots too. Thanks!

I've met a number of local mags, but never traveled to a summit. I went to Schweitzer with Creaky Fossil one time, and to Lost Trail with skibuminWyo, but never been much for traveling.

I now remember a couple of surf meet-ups in Solana Beach / Cardiff, followed by Pizza Port.

At the first summit in SLC. Straight lined the circ at the Bird with MD9 and GT40 taking pictures. The guys I remember Splat, Phunk/Mrs. Phunk, SuPu, Crossover, Powwhore, Buster, Pinner, etc. There were lots I can't remember at this point.

That season set me on life path as that was the season of the "heating truck bed" thread. You old-timers know what I'm talking about. For the rest it was the beginnings of the maggot brotherhood. I skied the entire season with internet strangers from the forum, crashing on couches, strangers sending me cash when my transmission shit the bed. JR met me at a bar in Nelson, handed me the keys to his house told me he'd be back in a few days, gave me vouchers (or maybe it was Beaver) for Whitewater to keep me skiing. Then when he returned took me on a backcountry experience I will never forget. So much good that season then heading down to that first summit in SLC. By the time I got there I had probably skied with more maggots in more places than anyone. What is really cool is what it led to for me.

The following season I sublet a maggots apartment in SLC (Phunk), got a job as a snowmaker at Alta, then graduated to a cat driver there. When the snow was going off elsewhere I would hop on a plane. Rolled into Seattle and got the VIP tour from Buster at Crystal, Z-Bo guided me into the backcountry up Stevens. Hit Points North up in Cordova with a whole crew but my memory sucks with names on that one.

From there ended up in Truckee/Reno working for Patagonia. Splat was making skis then and when someone stole all my gear out of my truck the maggot collective stepped up. Splat hooked me up with some bros, another maggot hooked me up with boots, I was skiing again within a few days.

My experience is I could give a shit what gets posted on the forum because 95% of you are fucking solid individuals in real life (well at least the ones I've met). If I ever get the time perhaps I write that whole season out, I kept a journal of it and wrote down the handle of every maggot that helped me out along the way, just got to dig it out of storage. Just remembered another, Armchair Extreme, stand up guy that stepped up and helped when I needed it. So many good dudes, strangers helping strangers. Thanks Maggots been a great 20+ years with you guys.

I didn't know he was in jail. I think he's good people, but mostly just someone I say hi to.

But in addition to the ones you mentioned (Rontele and pechelman) there were certainly a number who used to come on that trip (many who no longer or rarely post here): Makers, Dobish, Pegleg, stupendous man, Labelle, and at least a couple of others who have accounts here but never really posted.
Yup, I made some delicious sled laps with iskibc and pow4brains that trip. And you're right, I remembered lemonboy but was actually thinking of Dobish. I was over at lemonboy's house that spring poaching some apple tree trimmings for my smoker and got confused cuz that was quite a while ago. I'm way older and more boring now. I will have to read the whole thread later.
UT mini, Jackson Summit, Key West fishing super mini with Hook and Lee, several meet ups in Jackson, UT, CO, and MT where local mags showed me some of the goods. Taken several mags out fishing here in St Pete over the years, back when I had a boat, and time to fish.

been blessed to share a lot of cool irl experiences with a lot of good people and hope it continues.

I still owe Matt a 30 rack of PBR from when Bama beat Texas. Had been at the great string of 00's A-Basins and then someone seduced me with a river before I got to return for another A-Basin mini and pay it off.

Thought we were going to have to send a search party for core shot. Hit magic on a powder day and it might have well been a summit. Hung with some mags on the deck apres. Same thing on a 28” day at mrg. Back during the period when Killington didn’t stay open late showed up to skin and there were more than a few mags and kzoners there. And finally, went to a ttips telefest at Bristol and think I skied and hung out with Adrenalated.
Those were fun times. I think I still have some 05 summit sticker schuss and I made
    Harvest the ride.

I did weekend MidAtlantic ski house parties about 10 years in a row with the crowd from that other forum.. As far as I know there hasn't been a Nikelback party within 500 miles of my house since I've been active here. I'm a slacker and a cheapskate. If it's more than a 6 hour drive I'm out.

I'm sure there are plenty (most) who go farther, fly, etc.. But how many others have only done ones within day trip range?
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

The best 'interweb' meet up I ever had was the Tan O Rama at the Basin RSA usenet sometime around 2000 or so. What a day. Incredibly fun.

I signed on here in 05 and in 2008 flew out on a Saturday morning and drove up for longboard day at Loveland. I remember a ton of people were there, Frank Zappa made an effort to meet and greet. Met some of the other originals who are no longer here aka lemonboy. Rode the chair with Montanaskier and his wife. They seemed nice enough and were gracious mags, but that ride, and the day seemed awkward for me and felt forced. Lacked context somehow and definitely felt like I was crashing someone else's party.

Also. I couldn't fkn breathe. Broke my old leather tele boots trying to jump turn my skinny Dynastars from 1987. But still fun. And wouldn't trade the memory away for anything.

Spent most of the day skiing with my non mag dirtbag friend Crazy Terry.

Also that place is flat. Except where it isn't.

    https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/....php?p=1821199

I think most years since I have somehow skied with a mag or three somewhere, like the super fun day with Snowaddict last year at CB, or lurkers from the midwest thread shredding laps at Chestnut.

Please do. If there was ever anything that truly defined the history of what it was to be a maggot, it was "heating truck bed." The new generation needs to know what real stoke and adventure looks like, not instagram bullshit.
