2023/2024 NBA THREAD: WHO WANTS TO GO ON PARADE?!?

I can definitely see this Finals going 7. I will say, as a Kyrie hater I have to tip my cap for finally growing up and realizing he’s a great second option and not the man. Took him way too long to realize it.

Luka is the best player in the series but Boston has more depth. It’s a tough call. I guess Boston in 7 but won’t bet on it.

It’s obviously very close with Tatum. My only concern about Tatum is him disappearing late in games or just long stretches, as many of our resident Celtics fans have complained about. Yeah it’s kind of a team problem (or has been) but as the leader that falls on him. Anyway I just hope we have a fun series. I’ll actually be happy for either team in this case.

You're not wrong about Tatum. Signed, Resident Celtics Complainer, I mean fan.

Luka is the best player in the series, hands down. I think Boston is the better team overall, deeper bench, probably have the best 2-3-4 players (Tatum, brown, KP) in the series after Luka… I’m hoping for a good series that goes seven. And I would put money on Boston but some of that depends on KP’s health.

Kyrie returning to Boston for the finals should be very entertaining as will KP playing Luka and returning to Dallas.

I know it's the NBA, not the WNBA, but ....... all of the hair pulling, back-tracking, snarking over the "hard" foul on Kaitlin is hilarious. Lots of weird post-racist stuff flying all over the place. I understand the resentment from the women who've been fighting tooth and nail in the trenches forever, having to watch every one falling all over themselves, they might as well be calling her the Great White Hope. Was she spectacular in college? Absolutely. Has she payed her dues/earned her stripes in the pros? Not yet.

So I guess I can say now that the Wolves and Pacers are going to be kicking themselves all off-season?
I agree with most everybody that Luka’s the best player in the finals, but Boston is a deeper team. If it’s a close game and Luka’s dribbling the ball…

Are people paying a lot more attention to the WNBA because Caitlin is playing? Absolutely yes.

Ahh, but why is that exactly? Has there never been another woman coming into the league with tremendous potential? No - there have been many. Could she a transcendent player? Possibly, but the odds are not in her favor. if she's as good as Sue Bird, it will be a win-win situation, but to pretend that the WNBA was second rate until Kaitlin showed up is BS, and I don't blame the vets fro being a little sour (Reese is not a vet and should shut her mouth) . I hope she exceeds expectations, but she's never going to be able to be a one woman show at this level.

Don’t forget Cameron Brink. She all over the place right now. Playing 3x3 in Olympics, too.

PB, it's hard to take your point seriously when you repeatedly misspell her name.

I get why the vets are irritated by all the attention on her, they've been busting their butts for a long time. That said, the reality is she IS bringing an enormous amount of attention and money. Did she appear at the right time, at a tipping point? Maybe. But she also was a transcendent player in college, not just a right place right time player. But the notion that Sue Bird is her best case is ludicrous, as good as Bird was. Absent an injury, she will be a transformative star for the league.

I'm rooting for the Mavericks for this finals. I watched a lot of the western semi and finals - they're impressive.

Celtics have the best record, home court advantage, undeniably solid team.

I wanna see how these teams match up! I hope it's fun and not a rout either way.

Caitlin ... my bad. I did a hash job of making my point: that her getting blindly shoulder checked by, while unacceptable and easily condemned , seems to be generating an over-reaction by the media experts. Draymond is probably tittering into his sleeve. I truly hope she is that once in a lifetime transformative star. I certainly am not qualified to predict how any player will ultimately perform (see my inaccurate comments on Wenbanyama), and hesitate to make any predictions.

    Mavs fan for this series.
Maybe Luka can step on a Celtic’s foot and punch him in the balls, then step back and drain a three to win a game.
