    Quitting coffee?

I don't know if it's getting older, work, family, all of the above but god damn coffee/caffeine is giving me serious anxiety lately.

I did no caffeine once for a month about 6 or 7 years ago and after the headaches went away I felt pretty damn good.

What are you drinking early in the am now?Mudwater? Something else?

I think I'll slowly wean off mixing Swiss water decaf and regular until it's all decaf over several days.

The largest size Moka pot to the dome every am is....uh....way too much.

Have you considered combining it with a nice Indica to take the edge off?

WRG is sober, he quit booze and weed years ago. I myself am now completely sober, finally quit the weed after quitting drinking five years ago. Sleeping better than ever before. Quitting coffee is not happening for me!

I feel like the bulletproof coffee slows the intake of the caffein and reduces the anxiety. For me anyway. MCT oil or Ghee. Also less acidic so I don't get heartburn as bad. Mud just doesn't taste good to me.

Won’t be quitting coffee but had to stop for about six months because of Covid heart issues and altered taste. Drank this, and still do when I want something decaf. It’s really lovely. https://www.memteaimports.com/whole-...bal-tea-tisane

Go half caf. You can start mixing coffee beans - caffeine and decaf, and start from there. I quit the caffeine about 10 years ago. Ended up going cold turkey after getting the flu. Probably made it easier to kick the habit because I had no desire to drink coffee while I was under the weather. But I still drink decaf just for the flavor with a bit of cream and dash of sugar.

Got a friend that macro doses, seems to have mixed results.

I don't drink coffee because it's nasty bitter tar water, but starting the day with a tall glass of water and 5-10 mins of exercise gets me pretty ramped up. I don't drink caffeine in general because I don't like uppers, and it just gives me headaches.

Maybe moderation is better than quitting altogether? I feel sad for folks who don’t have coffee in their lives, but also jealous. My consumption has a tendency to creep upwards….it’s that late afternoon consumption I need to halt at work.

Not a habitual coffee drinker here. Never have been, even when I was waking up at 4:30am for work everyday. Part of that is probably because I have gotten on a few coffee kicks in the past and the headaches post coffee bender were bad enough to make me not want to drink it daily... But do enjoy a cup every once in awhile.

Usually it's just water for me, though smoothies in the the morning are pretty dang good and a great source of nutrition if done correctly. Seriously, most of your fruit and vege daily portions are in your system before 9am. Get yourself a decent blender and go to town. It's stupid easy, throw stuff in and press a button. Most of the time we don't even measure anything and don't think I've had a bad one yet.

    Don't buy them. Like me.

You know, there's a middle ground between not drinking coffee at all and drinking an entire pot. JFC. Get yourself a V60, some good beans, and just drink *one* cup.

    Quitting coffee?

I quit the daily Indica edibles 3 weeks ago (all other weed too) and already notice a major reduction in anxiety. I’ve been a daily weed user for 31 years so my brain is a bit confused.

Flip side is I only sleep a max 4hrs a night now. Haven’t increased the caffeine much though, 2 cups of drip coffee at 7:30 am and off to work. I crash hard after lunch so I had to start eating a small lunch and then a snack 2 hrs later. Seems to help.

    It’s a constant balancing act I’ve noticed.

I was having anxiety issues too and quit coffee. Missed it so much. Took some time but I finally took control of my anxiety and am back to drinking copious amounts of coffee with no ill effects. Focus on whats causing your anxiety
Took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to change this shit

tried quitting coffee few years ago, still cant remember why I thought it was a good idea. I did it but did not enjoy it. I did realize I had to quit the volume of shitty coffee I was drinking just to have it in hands. through the day

now I sit and enjoy 2 cups of coffee a day, max, in the morning. grind the beans at the moment and pour over.

I would do the half decalf and half reg bean grind if I wanted to slow the intake to nothing.

Anyway, good luck on your endeavor. Do what works best for you.

During 2020 COVID I started developing insomnia paired with my depression. Talked to my therapist and then doc about it.

Doc asked me if I drank coffee. Yeah. How much? One french press a day. How big is that french press? Um, not sure -- about 1L?

Turns out a liter of coffee ever day is not great for anxiety and insomnia.

I switched from a 1L of french press with Costco beans every day, to ~325ml/20g of quality beans in a v60 every day. Helped manage my insomnia along with some other behavioral work.

Now the only thing that fucks up my sleep is anxiety on occasion and a alcohol close to bed.

Gave up coffee about two years ago and don't miss it at all. Granted I was never a true coffee drinker. Never drank drip only one mocha a day but I did enjoy that buzz. Now I just drink herbal tea or I make a steamer of Almond milk, chocolate and dark chocolate or espresso balsamic with a dash of cinnamon (very tasty!)

If you can't moderate from a big moka pot.. seriously just punch in coffee alternative to like instagram and there will be every iteration of mushroom drink to mud water and everything else that people swear by.

I have reached the point where good decaf is just fine with me. But it has to be a decent brand and process. I quit the high test around 10-15 years ago. Main reasons I quit were BP (didn't seem to make any difference either way) and if I over did the caffeine my already short fuse could really become fast burning.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
