I used to call 18 Road the ‘Caddyshack’ trails for couples, because at the end of a good day there, “Everyone’s Gonna Get Laid!”

I was just down there 2 days ago. Navajo rocks was really fun but I second that I got really bored about halfway through the full loop. I need some longer downhills. Not enough up to get tired and not enough down to get the adrenaline pumping.
I am the definition of an beginner/intermediate.
It's a damn fine spot for that sort of experience![]()
My first time to Moab was in 2001. Back then it was pretty much the Slick Rock Trail and Porcupine along with a bunch of sandy Jeep Road stuff and Bartlets. We had just came from Fruita and we were totally perplexed about the Moab hype and wanted to head straight back to Fruita.
The riding options since then have obviously come a long way but so has the crowding. I'm not a huge fan of Maob anymore and I prefer the more quieter and peaceful places that aren't as discovered. Heck, I live 40 minutes from Sedona and I only rode once down there this whole last year.
dirtbag, not a dentist
Back then I also had a running joke when people would come into the shop and ask "Where is the best singletrack in Moab for Spring Break?" And I would always answer "Fruita".
My first time riding Moab was '87, and Slick rock was really the draw because of how unique it is.

Haven't been to that amazing corner of the world since 2019, are there any new trails or networks even in Moab, Fruita, Grand Junction area beyond the Palisade Plunge?
Not sure what year it went in, but SARLACC, which is up above 18 road, is super fun. We rode it out and back but there's other good trail out beyond it.

Falcon flow / hawks glide / eagle eye in moab are new-ish.
If you extend your reach to Montrose, we are 2/3 of the way done with 14 miles of new trail.
EOB, We need a trip report!

I was surprised how uncrowded it was around Moab this past weekend. The pay campground was full but there were many many open sites for dispersed camping. We even found an entire campground that was empty in a pretty awesome spot. I think people are trying to be as close to town as possible, or maybe think you can only camp in campgrounds or something. Maybe it was the cold overnight temps, but the days were pretty nice. Anyway, maybe the madness of the last few years is being tamped down a bit.
Anyway, we were mostly SxS/Moto riding, but did get a fun mellow ride in on Rodeo yesterday before the ride back. Fun little trail for my first ride of the season and we didn't see a single other person on it, meanwhile NR and Mag7 down the road had full parking lots.
I sure hope not.

Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?
bro
you need to get out more and the mountain people traveling to costa rica for vacation is lame
I'll be in Hawaii will you be there? I'm missing out on desert season this year big time and it's kinda weird
was in moab in january at thats it
but once you realize moab is played out you find so many other great places to go in the desert
as long as everyone keeps on keeping on going to moab I should be all good
almost want to buy a SXS because some of the places I've been now are so desolate with miles and miles of endless trails and roads
And, just like you, all of the OG Jeep people are PISSED about all of the n00bs with their SxS’, generally trashing the experience.
And the circle continues…

SxSs are fun as hell when you are in them. Annoying as hell when you arent in them.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
We haven’t heard from EOB yet, so I’m just going to assume he accidentally took his GF down Portal, and she pushed him off of the cliff.
RIP, Bro

All the lower stuff is great right now, the most western part of 'frontside' is super choppy with cow tracks still, but everything else is riding great.
re: Sarlacc/Edge Loop .. lower stuff is in, but I made my first try at an edge lap last tuesday (4/18) and it was not in. about a mile before that upper pumping station the mud/snow/ice started. probably 2' of snow at that station. it'll be ready soon though.
