Those absolutely were mechanix, bought at home depot. As I said in another post, pic is from 10 yrs ago so I'm sure design probably changed since then.


+1 on throwing gloves and soft pads in the wash and hang dry.

Also, unless it's cold out I only wear gloves descending for crash protection. They last longer the less you wear them, obviously. Your hands can dump heat more effectively than any other part of your body so you want to avoid covering them up when it's hot.

X3 or whatever on leatt's being good for thin palms. I have had the palms rip, although on the whole I wouldn't call them less durable than any other option. They're a bit spendy though.

Also x3 or whatever on just chuck them in the washing machine from time to time.

Yup. Accurate. Knee pads when temps are reasonable, none when it's hot.

When people say "pads," I assume that means knee pads, since I don't know a single person that regularly rides with any pads beside knees.

For me, knee pads or not depends on the trail and who I'm riding with. Temperature really doesn't come into play.
Agree that elbow pads bring the suck but I'll wear them under extreme conditions (park days, ultra-sketch trails, etc) because when I didn't...

I guess my point was more that if it's hot out, I'm gonna ride trails that don't necessitate pads. Dial the ride back a bit.
