Meridian vs Devastator vs Saba Pro 107

I'm looking at mid fat rockered skis and these three seem to be showing up as the primary options but I'm having trouble really differentiating them. Hoping someone can speak to what might be best suited for PNWet concrete, I've tried the Saba Pro 107 in Crested Butte but that's wildly different snow and the bases were messed up so it was hard to get a good read on them. I loved the RC Reason 120s and had fun on the Saba Pro 117, hence the hunt, but that was in CO and a very limited sample size of rockered skis, so just wondering what the hivemind thinks of the mid width options (esp factoring in the wet/heavy snow).

    Meridian: 187cm, 2100g, 136-107-127, 23m, -5cm from center
    Devastator: 186cm, 2000g, 137-108-131, 21m, -4.75cm from center
Saba Pro 107: 187cm, 1950g, 137-107-127, 23m, guessing -6cm from true center via luke koppa flash review
    FR110: 186cm, 2300g, 135-110-129, 24.7m, -5 to -8cm from center

First runs on the FR110 today. Pretty fun!

40m reverse camber radius matched to the 24m turn radius really gives a great carve, easy drift, and surfy nature

Over 2300g tho, so a bit different than the super light skis mentioned. Fr110 is much smoother, no flap, more planted.

OK added FR110 into the list lol but yeah looks pretty hefty.

Also price considerations: meridian isn't for sale from moment do second hand only atm, devastator sold out for the season so also second hand only, saba pro 107 is on sale for like $450 and FR110 is $700 and not available till fall [emoji389]

I can’t comment on Meridian in PNW concrete, but I just had three days on the limited stock Meridians I purchased off TGR (Thanks Behuwe). A mix of powder, heavy chopped up powder, and soft to firm bumps in trees. As someone who has owned hojis, owns ravens for touring, and owns Moment CB, they definitely had more stability in speed vs the 4frnt skis, and about 80% of the CB, and about 80-90% nimbleness of the 4frnts. They exceeded my expectations. I will also note that this runs skis are around 2100g. I am unsure on older versions, but blister also shows that the actual weight of their 2020 skis were 2100g vs the 1950g stated. So based on that it would be more suited to heavier snow packs vs the other lighter skis. FR113 is also an option as well.

Well shit yea. Came into this thread ready to post that the FR110 was what you need, glad to see Marshal got the protos in!

Don't know a lot of folks who've skied the Saba Pro but I've heard good things.

Man, I was ready to throw down on those Meridians you bought. I got my CBs in January and they are just ridiculously fun. They do everything I want them to and do it well except maybe steep hard/chalk/ice obviously. The Meridian is on my short list due to them being a less corpulent Nanner.

I just missed the limited run of Meridians this year.

I’m thinking possibly Devs or Meridians next year.

I’ve also owned lots of Icelantics over the years. The Saba ski length sizing is off….177 and 187? For rockered skis I think should be 183 and 192? The 177 full rocker would skis so short?

The Saba 107 tip/waist/tail specs bang on though at 137/107/127. And always wondering about the durability of the topsheet on the Saba. My good skier wife shredded her Pioneer topsheets in two days.

Haven't skied the Saba but did hand flex a pair last year and they seemed pretty soft. I'd opt for something significantly stiffer for PNW snow. I thin a lot of the decision would come down to how you like to ski and where you typically prefer to stand on a ski. Forward mount = Meridian, middling = FR110, back = VW Katana. All top choices

Ohhhh I’m excited for these. Interested to hear what tweaks you make from proto to production. Dm works if it’s not for the masses

🤤 might have to hit you up about getting a lap on those when I'm in SLC end of April.

you bet! I have two flex patterns here. Super please with the two days i spent on the stiffer ones. fast and quick without being overly turny. Opens up turns and skis the fall line nicely. Extremely smooth.

For directional skiers, the -8.5 mount feels GREAT. I’ll get some more modern-stance folks on them at -5 and -6.

Getting in the softer ones tomorrow!

I'd prefer the fr 110 to be stout, not flimsy, but not I beam stiff. I assume that s the fr flex you're aiming for..

eSock, I’ve got some used 186 Rossignol Sickles that need to be sent to a good home. Old ski, but they were the original flat/RC all mountain twin tip that inspired the designs for most of the skis listed above.

    PM me if interested.

Nice. Can you post your thoughts here when you get some miles on em? I've been thinking about doing the same for a touring setup. I know you are a fan of the OG devs so I'm very interested in your take. Wondering if the magic is still there sans the weight.

Will do. I think the magic should still be there. Trade a bit of charge-y for some more relaxed turning. I mounted -3, seems to suit me fine.

I need to get my lazy ass walking uphill again. Been a bit..

Exactly! I think we nailed the flex on the FR110. Had some amazing turns this weekend on what will be the production version, and happy to loan my pair out for demos to folks through SLC.
