The did I get scammed thread

I was just on www.thesmithoutlet.com and ordered some googles and a new Vantage helmet and my credit card receipt reflects the seller as Bestduka.com in Tanzania. WTF Sent an email asking for a receipt via email, but I think I got scammed. Very legit looking site so be careful.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

If it wasn't a HTTPS secure domain cancel your credit card immediately. This is why I ALWAYS use PayPal with questionable vendors. If they don't take PayPal goods and services run away unless you know them personally. Crooks can't/don't take Goods and Services PayPal
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Remember when scams were things like Nigerian princes and the Publisher's Clearinghouse? Those were the days...

Here is one that comes up pretty high in search results - https://www.cripplebia.com/

If you know Cripple Creek Backcountry - this is an exact replica of their website , with shockingly low prices and is likely a scam

The domain name is registered to someone in
    State:
    SHANXI

    Country:
    CN

Thanks for the humor guys. I called the credit card company to cancel it and they said they can't until I am actually billed and dispute the charge for goods never received. The merchant did accept Paypal on the site, so go figure. Live and learn on the "to good to be true" comment.

impressive looking site. The crazy thing I have noticed is google ads promoting these sites, google can't figure out a way to know they are scams?

Will be interesting if they send you something, maybe counterfeit gear?

google has lost all credibility with me. Sometime post pandemic their search engine started spitting out more garbage than useful information. My guess is that their machine learning algorithm is way beyond their control or understanding and the scammers have learned to exploit it.

I also fell for one these sites over the winter, for Julbo glasses. They look legit on a mobile browser. About two weeks later they ordered something from Walmart and sent it to my address in what I assume was a bit to make it more difficult to dispute. My bank was great in taking care of everything.

Bump. There appears to be a scammer in our midst:

You have received a new private message at Teton Gravity Research Forums from md92b6, entitled "Scarpa TX Comp NTN 27.5 or 28.0".

This is the message that was sent:

Liv2ski, if the Vantage helmet you wanted happens to be size small in black, I have a new one for sale at a similar price - no scam.

That's exactly what a scammer would say.
