    Motorola Defy Satellite Link

The cost weight and feature set of this little thing looks pretty interesting. Seems like it could fit pretty well for a lot of use cases.

Lacks any nav assistance (? Looks like anyway) but does add 2way sat non-emergency and emergency comms to a smartphone and stand alone one way SOS via sat.

100 bucks and 6 bucks a month, 2.5 oz; looks interesting. Whatcha think?

I've been waiting for a disruptor to switch to from the InReach, and this could be it....

Good point it appears to probably use Inmarsat, high earth orbit(?) which has drawn some complaints about reliability.

I'm considering getting this when available because the subscription is so much less expensive than my inreach. Hope to have some real life info before doing so though
