why is the goal in skiing to perserve energy?

Is it a sport? or some sort of weird thing we do while trying not to do anything?

What mechanics would change about my skiing if I thought less?

1- the goal in skiing to preserve energy is so we can go faster.

2- yes, it’s a sport in which we do nothing and experience everything. That’s impossible, but riding clouds is the goal here. Are you even a skier? How is this new to you?

3- mechanics? All of them. You’d stop skiing like a robot. And you’d find freedom. Then you’d be confident in your skin, content with your ability, and happy with your own style. Those are all important mechanics.

so wait I am too active, but yet I ski like a robot?

You can not ski 3d terrain with no effort fast, you can slow and do it sure but skiing direct fall ine will require effort.

You I am happy with all of the above. No one here dare troll me in person, not many actually could including you

I’m sorry— I have a lot of trouble understanding you.

Your grammar is hard to follow.

I’m gonna have to give up. I hope you find happiness. But my gut tells me that that happiness is not going to come from here.

    Keep skiing, homie.

Oh— and maybe focus less on reducing the robot and more on increasing the soul. I bet you, and this site, would benefit hugely from more of Bushy’s soul.

Maybe try skiing naked at a pond skim.

For one, you’re trolling needs a lot of work. You lack wit and self awareness.

I would hate on the east, but I grew up Midwest, which is worse.

The only time I truly enjoy skiing is out west. Ymmv.

It’s been discussed here a few times…including discussing skijunky having to reprogram to keep up with PSIA certs. Keeping it nominally on topic, skiing is a series of skills that don’t always exist on a continuum. These skills help you have fun in all different kinds of ways on all different kinds of terrain on all different kinds of equipment.

You have to marry the right skills to the right terrain to the right equipment, and that’s the fundamental equation OP was struggling with in his…OP.

To Gaijin’s very valid point in re: bushy, what is missing from some of bushy’s skiing - that we all see - is relaxing and skiing like it’s fun rather than like it’s a drill. Except for some of the clips, where it looks like he’s in a bit over his head and relying on rigidity to maintain control. I know a few guys who ski like that and they’re mostly excellent skiers, but boring and ultimately limited. They can’t get to the next level until they have a drill to get them there, and eventually you run out of drills. Eventually you have to trust that your muscle memory and balance and intuitive fun seeking will get you through it. Stop worrying about mechanically putting your arms or upper body in the right place (what often looks like extra movements in Bushy’s videos) or what the tips of your BC120s are doing and just flow.

Wanna see video of skiing that I like, go watch Hoji’s segment on Claim or Candide ripping around a resort. You should definitely go grab some stills from those clips to prove some point that nobody cares about.
    focus.

This is well put. I know a bunch of guys (mostly ex-racers and ex-instructors) who are great skiers and very controlled, but their skiing is entirely uninteresting. They can make a good looking turn in weird situations, but they'll never air that rock or point it through that choke. So yeah, pretty boring.

my skiing was never meant to interest anyone though....

Judging my instagram/youtube how often do you think I do drill on my days off? I really dont think a perfect turn exist I just move where I think it works best and I basically never come to situation where I can not make turns now.

The real funny thing is this. No one, like literally noone has ever described my skiing as too robotic.

but people here keep saying I am not PSIA then calling me robotic, it really just sounds like trolling.

What? You have a youtok channel. You post videos here that are entirely unsolicited. Not meant to interest anyone? What millennial instafluencer horseshit is this?

My friend would tell me. Seriously I am dead honest with them they would be the same with me. My friends who actually know this sport some of who are legit famous in the ski world.

My youtube channel is meant to inform. The stoke videos like the recent one from Mont Grand Fond, well again its good enough, apparently I am not suppose to effort into it lol. You guys are all a fucking joke and hide behind being unknown.

    whats robotic about this?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHpPtGw-6FU&t=20s

you say you are breathing hard, you are working too hard. LOL you wouldnt stand a fucking chance.

No what I mean is I ski the way I want to ski, I have no real external influence.
