FS: Cassin Alpinist Tech Crampons $150

I bought these new two years ago and never used them. Made a plan to ice climb tomorrow and took them out and the fit is fucked on my boots.

I was pretty stoked on them because they're lighter than my old aluminum ones but can climb hard water ice and walk well, but, not really if they don't work.

The last pair at backcountry is on sale for 194, how about 150 shipped?

    details:

I don't have the box any more, the only scratches are from me moving the bails and bar around trying to get it to work tonight.

if anyone has more experience with modern sweet crampons than me and thinks this can be unfucked here’s why i think they don’t fit my boots:

i *think* i had fit them fine on my 0g in my living room but never used them or even put them in the backpack so who knows.

On the heel bail, pull the orange pin out and move to the lowest setting , it's okay to have the boot heel extend over the back of the crampon heel

It kinda looks like that crampon doesn’t play nicely with gripwalk soles which could be why they worked on your 0g’s.

thanks. the k2 looks about 2mm too wide to get the heel flush against the heel of the crampon without grinding the sides down on a belt sander. if it would go flush i think it would work too.

    yeah, this could be it?

I'll mess with it a little more today, thanks for the tips.

moving the heel lever down helps and there’s no obvious play but there is still a gap caused by that bar under the arch. maybe it’s good enough though.

Yea i am out of suggestions for you, it just looks like the platform doesnt work with the boot heel profile / area.

perhaps see if there is another heel that you can franken-crampon together that accommodates the spreader bar etc?

I do use these crampons on my Maestrale RS and they are a great compromise of sturdiness of a steel crampon / weight for those intermixed or rock to snow scrambles where an aluminum crampon is just not enough. FYI - Ive done the Liberty Ridge, Grand Teton, and other technical routes with these crampons, and they are just bomber.
