    Maybe?

    Koufax 63-66: 172 ERA+
    Maddux 92-95 202 ERA+
    Pedro 99-02 233 ERA+

He was the most dominant pitcher in an offensively challenged environment but did not dominate compared to his peers as much as a bunch of other pitchers. I am sure there are more but Maddux comes to mind immediately.

Maddux is probably the best pitcher I've ever seen over a long stretch, non steroid category.

Pedro was the best I've seen over a short stretch of years.

DeGrom was the best I've seen over an even shorter stretch.

What Koufax did in the WS in 63 and 65 puts him over the top. In 65 he pitched 24 innings and gave up 1 earned, 2 cg shutouts, 13 hits and 29 K’s.

Sure and that is amazing except complete games, shutouts, and strikeouts were not rare. In 63 Drysdale also pitched a CG shutout in his only start, for instance. That's why I think the modern guys have the edge: more offense, better competition, and lots of them did it for a lot longer.

This guy put up a list and has a bunch of "short peak" guys ahead of Koufax, I wish it was sortable:

I'll say this, the postseason is such a crapshoot now it's possible no pitcher will get a chance to crack those numbers. 4 championships, pretty sick.

But Bell is a goddammit professional hitter.

Hey I got to see a Dodgers Rookie toss damn near 7 innings of perfect ball.

1 hit through 7 against the line up that rocked old man Kershaw and charbrolied professional innings eater Lynn last night was sweet.

Speeds up the process of getting an ice cream headache?

One has to wonder what he could have done without dumbass coaches having him pitch 330+ innings with an injured elbow.

I hate this shit. And I hate Angel Hernandez almost as much as Cashman.

The Brewers looked really good dismantling the remnants of the Yanks' pen the last few days. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to bounce Atlanta or LA in a short series, they play really hard, have good balance, make contact. Fun team.

What's that average break down to on a per $ of salary spent?

The Red Sox announcers are saying that the team is the 3rd worst defensive team since they started keeping track with whatever metrics in 2017 and have apparently blown a bunch of easy wins this year.

Supermoon, where are the vids? I didn't know!

Yeah, no video I can think of specifically. They’ve just been consistently bad at defense and base running, but nothing like the little bullshit from the Pirates a couple years back that I’ve seen

Do the Giants actually have a self-driving car on the shoulder patch of their city unis?

And now 28/30 markets can rejoice with the Sox and Yanks tied for last.

Did I mention the lack of situational hitting in my rant about their defense. Holy Christ that was abysmal.

Better bring your a-game if you want to beat the Scranton Railriders.

(jokes, it was a truly uninspiring game by two teams that seemed deathly allergic to winning. 15 K's!!!)

Was in the city tonight, the malaise for both baseball reams in sept is palpable.

The final midweek day game of the season seemed like a good reason to play hooky from work today. It worked out, too, with the Mariners coming away with a 3-2 win over the Angels.

Braves clinch, big surprise. But, they do it in Philly. I swear they celebrated like they won the World Series. Hell of a season so far, but the real work is still to be done. I would say act like you’ve been there before, but this is the 6th in a row.

I thought they looked relatively sedate.
