I am sensitive to the 'peak' argument but consider these three:

    OFFICIAL 2023 MLB THREAD!!!!

2 out of 3 aint bad, but pitcher #2 is Koufax, right in between them for peak WAR.

eta: meant worst peak. i think it’s because his value was not as crazy at the time because there were so many pitchers dominating at the time. i’ve kind of knocked koufax a bit over the years in here because of that and the short career. i don’t see why he’s the only one that gets in like that when it’s possible that someone like johan (if not him) could be better when you consider the guys 60’6” away.

anyway johan was really good. moose was really good. king felix… maybe a step under in coney land.

And that's why baseball is so great. Never-ending arguments due to an absurd amount of statistical data to pull from.

Wins above Replacement is new to me. But, I can’t imagine a world where Clayton Kershaw isn’t at worst a 2nd ballot guy. IMO a guy, especially a pitcher, who dominates like Kershaw has over a decade of resiliency, best ERA in baseball five seasons? HOF.

Hall of Fame voting is goofball bullshit more times than not it seems anymore. If Kershaw isn't a 1st balloter, and the steroid guys are still being blackballed, then something is seriously wrong.

Kershaw may or may not be "inner circle", but I don't see any scenario where he isn't a first ballot guy.

Yes Pete has applied for reinstatement.

    No he won't get in.

No he won't get into the hall, at least while he's alive; and as much of a piece of shit that Pete is (add emphasis for the folks in back), that's a damned shame. He hit the ball. No juice. He's the hit king. We've got loads of abusive pricks in the game and in Cooperstown right now without even having to go back that many years so why not Rose in the era of BetMGM.com in partnership with Major League Baseball?

Don’t tell these guys it’s a dress rehearsal. Dodgers Stadium looks like October. Playoff baseball comes a month early.

Ronald Acuña Jr. becomes the first player to have 30 HR and 60 SB in a season. Oh and he reached it by hitting a salami.

    These Braves are unreal.

That was a heavy weight bout. Total slugfest

Bummed my boys came up short, but stoked they battled back from 7 to 1 to have a chance to win in the 9th...

3 more to play to prep for October

I didn’t think it was possible for the Bravos to maintain at the same level after losing Freddie and Dansby, and they didn’t. They’re exceeding. Nuts.

Slugfest was right. Damn good run the Dodgers made to crawl back. Back to back solos almost as exciting as the Grand Slam.

My only complaint, albeit minor. 6:15 start pretty please. Gotta observe my old man bed time. I’ve been excited about game 2 since noon.

Well the Sox were banging on the door of the playoffs then they lost a series at home against LA, got swept In Houston, and now are getting destroyed by the Royals? Chaim Bloom needs to be shown the door.

    Yikes.

“Los Angeles Dodgers starter Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges late last night, an officer with the LAPD tells ESPN.

Urias, 27, was booked late Sunday and released early this morning on $50,000 bond.”

I hope not if he really is a twice-caught abuser. No room for that in society, let along pro sports.
