Anyone know which flex the Rossi ZE plug corresponds to, roughly? Says stiffer than ZC. The thing is that I can get them really stupid cheap, could be a nice project.

First, there are race boots and race-inspired boots. Redster CS, Raptor WCRs with flex numbers, Lange RS with flex numbers, Dobermann GP, Dalbello DRS are all in the latter category. Within the latter category, there are unique standouts like the Redster CS, Raptors, and Lange RS 140 (only) that offer narrower-than-98mm fit combined with thicker plastic. These boots are lower volume, more powerful, and more stable than the others.
I have a fun project on my hands. Hahaha. NOK 750, free delivery.

For those interested. Only 26.5 in stock. No idea if the same price shows up for those outside Norway.

Arlid,
Please post video of trying to get out of those boots at the end of the day. A few quick clips of skiing bumps would also be appreciated!
Can you wait ten months? I suspect I need to grind a fair bit to make these work. Summer project. [emoji16]

Also, I'm driving with my boots on now. Used to be only the zipfits, but find that I save a bit of time not wrestling stupid cold shells at home, where the heat gun is.

My $.02, you don't want a plug boot. Go with the 95-98mm "beer-league" race boot in whatever stiffness you like. I impulse bought Redster TI 150 last year after breaking all my other boots. Yes, they are second to none on groomers but anything else was not enjoyable. Matt(onenerdykid) recommended I try the CS 130, what a difference. Just spent a week in Montana in them and they fit and ski like a dream, groomers, bumps, steeps, even old-man turns after I wrecked my back. Many other boots I have to go inside and tear off my boot in a hurry multiple times a day, never had to take my boots off in 7 days of bell to bell.
FWIW, the liners are packed out on my RX 130 LV, and while I knew it would happen, obviously, there’s more slop than I was expecting. Went to the fitter and tried some Zipfit Garas in them, but also tried on RS 140s. I thought there would be a small difference in fit between the two, given the 2mm last difference, but the reduction in volume is pretty drastic everywhere; way more difference than between a regular RX and RX LV (from what I remember).
Can’t imagine needing or wanting to go to a full plug for my use.
I don't expect to actually find a good use for these, except if we start up a master's league locally, but I have a few tools, and would be very fun to get them to fit as a cheap project.

Yeah, not directed at your project - that sounds like the kind of Quixotesque adventure I’d try myself if I could get boots cheap and could do the work myself.
I hear 170 is the proper flex for drinking piss out of, so you always have that as a fallback use if they don’t work out for actual skiing.
Exactly, and ankle flexion should not be a problem, either.

Are you a high end shop if you don't bring in race or race oriented boots? Once the industry gets over this stupid every boot has to have a walk mode for people who are "thinking of touring" and we can get back to real alpine ski boots the better. Your Redster CS/Hawx Ultra, Lange blue boots of all flavors and some others should work for a lot of skiers if they are fit properly. Of course being in a mountain town most of the issues we see are boots that are 2-3 or even 4 sizes too big from metropolitan shops.

Settling in on Raptors 140rs. Thanks for help here. It's going to be sweet once my bootfitter goes to work

hmm, I worked for Lange for 10 years, still sell them at retail never seen a ZE? ZJ+, ZJ, ZA, ZB, ZC and ZI. We used to say the ZI was the boot that Thomas Grandi sent back for being too stiff, primarily to discourage Masters racer from ordering them and all the hassle that would entail.
EDIT: just went and checked, the ZE seems to be a Rossi only product and is still in the catalog in the new grey race boot.

Interesting. I'm secretly hoping they screwed up the shipping and sent me ZBs, will find out next week. Norwegian kroners are stupid weak now, so these would be the equivalent of $70 US, shipped, direct from Rossi.

Got the ZEs, super nice fit for my feet, especially heel and instep. Need some grinding at bunions and sixth toes, but overall, super comfy. At my happy place regarding forward lean, as well. Need no toe length stretching/grinding, just sublime.
I have no illusions that I'm going to daily drive these, but will be fun come spring next season.
Now, anyone know anything about the Lange RS140s in comparison to lange/rossi plugs? Are they essentially more generous in inside volume ZBs? Instep?

Correction:
Mine were, but they still have the non-compliant sticker and tag on them. Maybe the random shop I ordered them from had them routered I’m not sure
Correction again: It’s a different sticker, says not ISO 5355, not the same sticker as the plugs that says must grind, so probably ground from the factory then
