Does anyone know about Plum jigs? The closest backcountry shop (5 hours away) has an un labelled plum jig, and they can't confirm if it fits for an Oazo or R170.

The Oazo and R170 have the same mounting pattern.

pins and skins has a jig, see if he will give you measurements. If I was home I could tell you from my jig.

Just seen, will confirm tonight when I get home from work

abcdethan, to be clear, what is it that you need? the actual measurements or whether the jig can accommodate Oazos/R170s?

Here's a pic of a labelled jig with the Oazo/R170 plate. I can confirm same hole pattern and dimensions as the paper template.

thanks! It turns out the retailer still has Oazos in stock and can mount them, so I think I'm good, and if not the backcountry shop said they could mount with a paper template.

Any chance that Plum jig is in the SLC area? I’d trade a quality six pack to borrow it for ten minutes!

Sorry, I'm NY based! Although if you only need it for 10 minutes, I'd stop by Skimo Co and see if you can check out theirs (I'm pretty sure they have one onsite)

Riff, or anyone else with Oazo experience, what are your thoughts on pairing Oazos with light 120+ skis for a powder touring setup? I'm short and light so probably doable with the Oazo 8s but want to see if anyone could share some insights?

Pins; I have used Oazos without difficulty on 117’s for two seasons, and HL C132’s for ten days. of course I use them on days where that size ski is appropriate. Absolutely no problems; no funky prerelease or etc.

Never bought from Alpinstore, but they have some great deals on Plum right now. Oazo 4 $228 with FRENCH15 promo code https://www.alpinstore.com/en/556691...clus-plum.html, R120 for $238. They even have Oazo 6 U-springs in stock for $19 so you could bodge together a higher release value Oazo pretty cheap.

Does anyone know if the modern guide mounting pattern is shared with any dynafit models? No shops around here have a dedicated plum jig but a shop tech told me he thinks they have a dynafit jig that may work…

From the bit of research I’ve done it sounds like the old guides and radicals shared the same pattern, but that may have changed?

Looks like Guides are almost the same as the Speed Turns or the Verticals (less the fifth hole) ? There is also a 0.5mm diff in the heel length, not sure if that matters a lot.

    Plum Tech Binding Discussion

i was wondering if anyone has experience with the newer oazo heel pads? all these hawt new bindings have some form of stomp pad/spacer. from what i understand the spacers that move side to side may be better as they preserve the heel RV rather than creating another sticking point.

for those with plum heel pads (oazo, pika or guide), any insight on how these compare with other spacers? thinking about preservation of consistent RV, power transfer, durability.

    Plum Tech Binding Discussion

I have a set of Oazos. I like the bindings. I bought the stomp pads but at least for my Backland XTDs the heel doesn’t contact the pad. And it’s not really that close. I would have to compress the ski a lot for it to come into play. So kind of useless for me. It would depend a lot on the thickness of your boot sole

Edited to add: I would think a rubber stomp pad would have to change the horizontal RV somewhat. It has to add friction and alter release if it’s set up with a minimal gap. Whether that matters to you is a different issue. I suppose you could get it tested and adjust the RV accordingly.

thats helpful thanks doc. seems that they dont exactly function as well as some of the other brands's spacers.

im looking very far ahead to a possible pair of ut122s next year, wanting to stay in the plum family, keep it under 300g but be able to drive the ski and thought a stomp pad would be helpful in that context. maybe ill consider straying to atk in this instance.

FWIW I've had Oazos on my Down CD104L and CD114L for multiple seasons, no stomp pads, the skis are used for anything from fall-you-die stuff to high speed misbehavior, and I've never come out of the binding or felt any kind of vagueness in the way I can drive the ski.
I know everyone is into stomp pads these days at 180+ lbs and skiing was more aggressively than I should I feel like the Oazo does completely fine with a suspended heel. I also have 0 qualms with Dynafit Superlites which most people claim are no better than a leather strap on the ski so you can take my shit with a grain of salt... Maybe the concept of power transfer is completely irrelevant in the type of snow I ski?

I use oazos on c132’s with and without a stomp pad, can’t tell much difference. I think for fat rockered skis you pivot and smear rather than carve, it’s not a big deal. I used the adjustable universal pads from atk but I’m not sure they sell them anymore.

Running Oazos also. FWIW, I swapped out the stock baseplate for the Pika baseplate to get a wider mounting pattern for fatter skis. I usually run brakes so can't comment on the stomp pad, although I suspect in soft snow, it won't make much of a difference

i guess the other side of the coin is im not that much of a shredder and weigh <160lb so maybe am overthinking things. i have a pair of oazos on some pagoda tour 112s and never had qualms.

riff, nice to hear your experience with and without the pad on oazos. i could still get hold of some of those atk spacers actually but i think pinsnskins idea of throwing on a wider baseplate (also get more room for experimenting with different boots) may be the best move for me. i like the outcome of this thanks for the input!

fwiw i have r99s, 150s, 170s and oazos and couldnt ask for anything more out of a binding for my uses.

You guys see any long term durability issues with the Oazos? My wife has a set on her skis but not a ton of days. It looks like the heel risers could potentially develop floppiness over time based on the design, kind of like the Atomic / Salomon issue so often mentioned. But maybe they can sell you a part to remedy this based on how modular their bindings are?
