Why the difference between the Hawx Ultra XTD and everything else?

Boot boards are directly linked to sole constructions. Hawx Ultra XTD has a glued-on sole, all of the others used screwed-on soles. And there is a 3rd boot board construction for Redster CS and its solid race-oriented sole.

    Sorry, 26.5 . . .

Am I correct assuming that the fit on a hawx ultra xtd 115 w is the same as a hawx ultra 115 s w?

Found a deal too good to pass up for the missus and she loves her hawx ultra xtd's...

If you put the liner from the XTD in the regular Ultra 115, they would fit the same. Level 9?

I got a set from Pierce Ski in Minneapolis. They ordered them for me along with the dual compound risers

That’s the one hold up for me as well - super narrow/skinny ankles. I’ve got GFT Zips in my ZGs, and am thinking I could dump a bunch of cork in the heel pockets and make it work. Or an MV Pro Tour, I guess. Did you consider that? Yeah, i know, buy a shell that fits first and all that.

Looking for something that’s easier to get on/off, walks better, has a different stance than the ZG, which I’ve never gotten the same mind meld with as I did Dfit Vulcans.

Cool thanks, I'll give them a call. I had the risers brought in to a local shop but can't seem to get the boot boards

Bumping this up, seems like the rubber layer of the tongue on the ‘22 Backland Pro (boa version) rubs on the plastic holding the boa in place. Lots of squeaking going on, anyone have a remedy? Just replace it with an intuition liner?

Sounds like you should wait for the new Dynafit Ridge pro if it actually comes out in Feb.

Once again, I really appreciate how much can be done with the memory fit plastic in Atomic boots. I dropped a shell size in my new pair of Hawx and got the toe box just right plus got a comfortable fit for my navicular bone. My favorite boot fitter (Frank at Backcountry Essentials) tells me that it is the widest navicular he has seen in his long time as a boot fitter.

Agreed, the ability of the new PU Hawx boots to expand in the navicular/medial midfoot area is incredible - say hi to Frank for me!

Is there a noticeable difference in the downhill performance with the Mimic Pro liner? Have the original liner in my 21-22’ Hawx XTDs that needs replacing. Mostly care about stiffening them up a bit with a new liner since I have the Backland for bigger days.

When a Mimic Professional liner is added to a boot, in basic terms, yes, it becomes stiffer. For us more refined TGR members, I'd rather say the boot becomes more substantial, more solid, more powerful, more responsive. "Stiffer" doesn't do it justice

    Haha, a simple yes would’ve been fine…jk.

Thanks ONK, does this go for both the XTD and Standard version? Lose much ROM if one goes with the standard?

Well, Matt's right. I swapped out the standard Mimic liner in my 21-22 XTD's for a Mimic Professional XTD and while it's only a bit stiffer in terms of forward resistance, the whole package feels like it has more "integrity" - it's also quite a bit heavier.

Cool, thanks Greg. I might give it a go. Have been thinking of going with a Cochise because this boot is mainly my inbounds and travel boot so I don’t have to lug around two boots. But sometimes I feel it’s lacking a little support and “refinement” as my dd inbounds boot.

The Hawx XTD version has the same construction basis, thickness, foam, etc. as the regular Hawx version. The only difference is that the Hawx XTD version has the Achilles flex zone so the liner can articulate with the cuff when walking/touring. No fit or performance difference otherwise.

If you use a regular Hawx Mimic Professional liner in an XTD boot, then the cuff ROM will definitely not be as good.

Day one in my Hawx XTD BOA, I felt this. Coming from a Cochise I felt myself fully blow through the flex several times and I was not driving a big ski.

Any recommendations to make this better? Going to drop my old mimic pros in. Possibly add a better booster strap.

A bit bummed as it was cold and the boots should have been stiff. Looking down I saw them bellow a bit which tells me I’m stressing the cuff beyond what was anticipated.
