Let’s hope the same company didn’t build Whistler’s Peak to Peak gondola.

    Nobody’s surviving that.

I'm certainly no expert but 1.5M doesn't seem like a lot when talking about infrastructure like this, no? And was it in CAD?!

1997 night skiing. No lights on that gondola ride up. Beer and a safety meeting in pitch black. Those were the days I tells ya.

oh wow, I'm sure that's gotten some attention. They'll lose a lot of money over the next few weeks.

Arson last year (Kimberley), now this. RCR is having a rough go of it lately. Having said that, if this is in any way the result of corner cutting on their part, the shut down is well deservd and hopefully a wake up call to others.

You know you're not doing things right or well when that beacon of corruption, grift and mismanagement shuts you down.

This is not the first time I've heard shittalking about RCR and their outright refusal to put any $ towards their lifts - either maintenance or new construction. Makes me wary of heading to KH in Jan. If that gondi goes down, we're fucked.

KH is awesome, and I had a great time skiing there, but their gondi seemed like it needed some maintenance. I was there towards the end of last season. They had to manually lock the grip onto the cable at least a couple of times while we were loading or in line - they had a big hook on a long handle for this. I'm assuming the failure mode of the grip is that it is locked, rather than open, so I wasn't super worried about it randomly opening once locked. But not something I'd seen anywhere else.

As long as it keeps moving!

Any problems then it's not too far a drive down to Pano. But KH is more fun for this trip.
