Sounds like you’re changing strategy, so try before you buy. A mid-fat charger is what I take out when everything is skied, and I’m still feeling aggressive (not so common as I age, as I more often walk for powder or style up the groomers). Something around 100mm underfoot for versatility, with lots of metal and hardwood for dampening, and neutral, predictable handling. Obviously lots of variations on this theme, but Mantras (any version) have been the reference in this class for over a decade, so could be worth renting/demoing/borrowing a pair, and refining your search based on how they work for you.

I had a chance to demo the Dancer 3s last spring. It’s a good ski. It would be on my consideration list for that size ski if I needed to fill that slot. I actually really liked the Dancer 2 and was seriously considering getting it, but I ended up with a silly deal on barely used Bonafides this year. The Factions are much better built since they went to the Atomic factory for builds a couple years ago. Really durable now.

It's already been mentioned, but any of the Cochise's fit. (The OG, Carbon or newer 106's - loose, quite a lot less loose/more precise, in the middle, respectively) Pick how surfy you want.

See Craigslist (searchtempest makes this easy) or FB market place.
Quite a few OG's and Carbon-tip 108 in 185 at pretty decent prices. 192's are harder to find, but I've seen several cheap 108 Carbons out there.
Not many 106's out there, and people want full-retail-new pricing for them. (Seems nuts to me...but CL is that way at times.) Buy those new, unless you find a deal. (I did, last year.)

MPro 108 has a partial metal sheet similar to the Rustler line visible under the topsheet.

Agree that the 22 Dictator or 23 Dancer would be decent options or if you can get the 21 Fisher plant builds of the CT 2.0 or 3.0 they would be even more damp and stable. The 21 CT 1.0 and CT 2.0 were the only ones with 2 sheets of metal underfoot with them changing to lighter carbon weaves instead on the 22 Atomic Plant CT 2.0 and 23 Mana 2 builds. 21 CT 1.0 and 2.0 also had rubber damping tip/tail/underfoot and only underfoot since.

The 21 CT 3.0 just had the single binding retention sheet underfoot but had a heavier core so it’s got about 200gr on the 22 CT 3.0 and Mana 3 builds.

The 21 CT 2.0 is the most damp and heavy of the group. It’s a Bonafide 97 or Heritage R99 with a progressive mount and twin tail. My 188cm are just under 2400gr yet are still very playful.

Not sure your size but have seen the 183cm 21 CT 2.0 and 184cm 21 CT 3.0 on KSL.com for deals right now.

They look pretty choice on paper. I asked for a pair of 188s for Christmas and Levelnine had them on sale, so my wife got them for me. Can’t wait to mount them up and ski them. She insists I wait until after Christmas morning.
