Eastcoast Roll Call TwoTwo/TwoThree A Slow Start to a Big Finish

headed up to Jay for New Years; skied Friday thru Monday and I have to say that Friday and Saturday really exceeded expectations; they still had a bunch of terrain open and it felt like true spring skiing. Saturday was a blast with a big crew, we skied in Hawaiian shirts, grilled hot dogs in the parking lots, drank beers on the lift, it was a blast. Sunday was still soft, but the wind was blowin' sideways and we were all banged up from NYE so got a few runs in and called it. Monday we lapped some of the easier terrain before heading home, the base had definitely firmed up a bit but we got like 2" of Jay cloud cream-cheese on top which skied surprisingly well.

All in all a great time over the holidays, but really hoping for some dang snow sometime soon. Cheers everyone!
Right on. Not surprised to hear Sat was rocking. I knew as long as it wasn’t raining the skiing would stay fun. Happy 2023.

I washed my car. Now what? Do I really have to swap out my snow tires to make something happen?
And if you are planning ahead, I decided to give up on this crap for the month of February so expect it to dump. Thank me later.
The snow stake doesn't lie. Just like my foam roller. Ouch!

hell, i miss getting a nice dump, having it get wrecked by rain and turning to ice and skiing groomers (or sitting out) til the next dump (or snowmaking effort).

i'm now actually surprised to go to a ski area site...and see that they're open.

Not much this time of year but we wanted to try these lures my 13 year old son has been making. He wants to try to sell them.

Aluminum Molds. Plastisol with dye and sparkle. Lots of ventilation

We have piles of them. He just keeps making them. Crafting for boys.

He should mold a bag of dicks. And sell them at A basin.

Sunday River is interesting this morning. Not horrible groomer skiing, but plenty of ice on lifts, roads, etc

Gotta say surprisingly good day skiing in So Vt. especially with the weather alerts about freezing rain and all.
Snow was soft and carveable, surprisingly not mushy, and the same can be said for the ice. Crowds at a minimum. The only downside was the 100% humidity in the mountain fog. It wasn't raining, but everything facing forward was drenched as if it had been, the backside was completely dry. For a day that said don't bother, glad I did.

Enjoy that for sure man. I pre booked my trips early tied to huts. If not I would definitely be going out now. Stay safe and beep inbounds

Just looking, no freezing rain on the goggles? That’s what always gets me

Thanks guys. My brother from another mother that went to Okemo Mtn School lives in Reno now, his “home” mtn is Rose but we have a date at palisades with my roommate from CVA, ex blizzard freeride team rider. This trip should be one for the books regardless of snow conditions, which still look promising compared to southern Vt. I’ll make turns for every one of you. And smoke plenty of herb.
