They could probably raise some scratch from a GoFundMe. Ppl love little places, myself included, and are willing to throw coin around.

Not sure a one-time infusion of cash was going to do it. Like I said above, hardly anybody skis there and without regular cash flow, you can't run a ski area.

In many ways, I dislike what Magic has become but the good ol days of about 20 mags being the only ones on the hill on a Saturday just wasn't a sustainable model.

Jeff with a G is a marketing guru and he managed to get the word out and put the "vibe" into words and now he has to limit ticket sales on most weekends with fresh snow (and holidaze). I'll take it because it beats having to hike for all my turns....

On the Friday Night Lights debacle: my recollection is that folks wouldn't pay the modest uphill fee and then wouldn't spend any money on beers and food afterward (tailgating in the lot). I can understand why they shut it down.

Probably aim for a Jay day? Smuggs (and Bolton) is always my goto when visiting, but I want that totality time baby.

…or is it going to be cloud city and we should go to Indianapolis instead?

Black Mountain didn't have enough pitch to pull good skiers away from Cranmore/Wildcat/Attitash. Probably could make it with a fast lift. Beginners like those and hate fixies.

Don't sleep on Whaleback as far as small resorts go if you've never pulled off the highway to hit it seriously packs a punch for 700 ft of vert.

Haven’t skied there in 30+ years but this still makes me happy. It was a throwback in the late 80s and guessing it hasn’t changed much.

I wonder if Entabeni wanted to show some support for independent areas after forcing some of their other area partners to drop participation in other pass products.

Yeah, I was trashing them pretty hard in the Indy Pass thread. They restored some faith.

Definitely needed some good press. Supposedly Andy Shepard who was the organizing force behind Black Mountain of Maine’s growth and Saddleback’s rebirth is involved. He won’t have Maine Winter Sports or distressed areas in Maine to draw upon.

That’s pretty cool. With the reopened ski runs going to be fun. I am definitely going back for a few days touring this Winter. Was my home mountain as a child. Even Greg Stump would have told you the best freestylers were at Squaw.
