even yesterday there was a lot of terrain that stayed pretty firm and locked up, zuma and slalom to west wall were a slush fest though. edges might be a good thing.

I've skied a decent number of days at A-Basin throughout my life, given I've never lived there. We try and make a spring trip every year and have a blast. Wishing the weather was gonna be sunny but what can ya do. I figured it would be dust on crust, but wanted to confirm with the locals I wasn't missing something from the weather reports.

Maybe it will be some powder Saturday?! If it’s going to snow hope it snows a decent amount. Saw this in the MT thread but p much needs to be sunny and nice or a decent amount of snow to peak my interest.

So it pretty much sucks unless it's warm or a powder day? Even on stuff like North Pole?

That’s just personal preference there, and truthfully I’ll probably get restless and be up there regardless this weekend. Narrow north and e/w vertical still looked fun and good on Monday. I didn’t venture up there bc I was fighting off bad decisions from the weekend.

When the skiing sucks, its pretty easy to have a good time skiing. Hell, plenty of people seem to have a shitty time skiing when the skiing is great. Conditions are just one part of it.

well duh, skiing is always fun. But that wasn't what I was asking. Was just trying to get a handle on current conditions as I haven't skied since Saturday (and never got up high that day) and we've had significant warming since then.

Given the weather we have now heading into the weekend, I'd be hard pressed to think it won't be anything but refrozen mank.

East wall was skiing great, if you like chalk, which I do, on Sunday. The rest of the mountain was only starting to soften up when the lifts closed. I heard the back side was slushy.

Conditions were pretty crappy today but I had fun. Pea soup above tree line, so I wasn't able to hike/didn't want to hike. That refugio is pretty cool, had an Irish coffee and charcuterie board. But the views sucked.

Yeah, both the Irish coffee and charcuterie there are great. And the view? Perfect.

best I can tell from the insta account it appears that parking filled before 9am. lift lines on the webcams look very manageable but Al wants to blame the parking issue on the single occupancy vehicles. I mean I love grillin and chillin with the crew too but come on lets be real here.

Mildly OT but here’s one way that A Basin is doing great and deserves a shout-out: the EV chargers they installed a couple years ago at the base area.
Super forward-thinking, aligned with their long term interests, and flat-out good for the planet. 👍👍

I get the feeling that they'll continue to chip away at charging for parking in the main lot, and encouraging people to carpool, without really adding any kind of meaningful change other than the typical greenwashing.

I wish they'd ditch Ikon, raise day ticket pricing, and require a ticket or pass to get into the lower lots. Sell a $200 season parking pass. Put the money towards an express bus from some bigger parking lots in Keystone, Silverthorne, and Dillon. Bitching about people not carpooling pisses me off.

Would parking reservations on busy days not help the situation?

Feel like it would cause more frustration for a majority of people. If you get there on time I've never had issues with being able to park. It's more or less when you show up after 9 am that you can run into problems.

So Officer Hard On! over here is saying that if you don't get to the ski area by 9, you're late? This is spring skiing bro. Its no alarms, no fucks given, show up wherever the fuck you want, drink as many beers as you want season. We show up exactly for these reasons.

Take your Saturday in February Attitude and take it to the Kokopelli Trailhead. Don't forget your Enduro Plaid, Fanny Pack and curated collection of bubblies and Topo Chicos.

I'm guessing A Basin has the same transportation challenge as Winter Park. A majority of the skiers come from the front range and don't go into town. But don't worry, if you show up when the skiing gets good your can probably snag a spot from Garry Golden who has to peace out to get Jr. down the hill to Lacrosse practice.

    lol hell yeah.

Tomorrow could be a day where it’s too hard to stay at work and ditching out for skiing sounds better

ever been drinking a beer while watching a chick do your laundry while wearing a bikini?

I feel bad that some people find skiing is so difficult for them.

Today or tomorrow is the last day to buy your bag of dicks for next season, er I mean unrestricted season pass for next season.

Don't get caught without your bag of dicks to eat!
