https://www.missionridge.com/mountain-report/#webcam. It’s a sad state of affairs. I see now that the reports were in anticipation of a new and improved webpage. Which it totally is. But like the wicked witch of the west….. https://www.missionridge.com/mountain-report/#webcam
On a more positive note. “From Beyond” is on Amazon.
Can anyone recommend a BC guide for the US2 near stevens pass area? would normally go with graybird guiding but I guess they do every zone except that one
Is this your internal monologue? Are you using TGR for journaling?

It just occurred to me that I should give a shout out to Colchuck Consignment here. It’s a second hand shop in Cashmere on hwy 2, run by some friends of mine. It’s existed in one form or another since 2020, but the current location is the best yet. They currently have an impressive amount of winter stuff, including some pretty interesting touring setups, lots of boots both alpine and touring(modern nice touring boots!) and a handful of skins and bindings. For example, there’s a pair of 177 Ravens in good shape with MTNs and skins for 479.

Any mags doing an SLC to Seattle run any time soon? My son wasn't able to grab a pair of skis for me from another mag down there like he said [emoji849] Happy to compensate
Some good news on the Paradise winter access front:
News Release: Mount Rainier National Park announced updates today to the winter 2023-24 recreation access schedule. Beginning Nov. 15, the park will expand winter public vehicle access to the Paradise area to five days per week on a Thursday through Monday schedule.
The park has increased and reorganized staff and resources to provide more public access to Paradise compared to last year, when it was only able to keep the road open two days each week. However, ongoing staffing challenges mean the road will be closed to public access Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Wow that's a huge win on the MRNP acess! Hell yeah.

Would you rather it stay at just weekends like last year?

I'd say it's a step in the right direction, but it's definitely not celebration worthy, the continual diminution of winter access and subsequent concentration of recreational users to fewer and fewer accessible trailheads is a huge problem in general but particularly with the continued population growth of pugetopolis
Speaking of recreation access I saw the Index-Galena road reopened earlier this week. First time since a section was washed out in the huge storm in 2006! They moved the road significantly uphill, so hopefully that will protect it in the future.

Great news, crazy it took that long to repair. We joked it would take many years for the powers that be to repair it, but didn't assume 17. Gonna be nice to not have to drive over jack's pass to get in there.
I'd only been in Washington state a few months and was kayaking on the North fork the weekend it flooded. I vividly remember just being happy to make it to the takeout in one piece since the water was rising exponentially. Then driving out of the valley and seeing water cascading down the hillside everywhere thinking this was the norm for where I had just moved to. I think the skykomish peaked at 100k cfs that Sunday, while normal flows are around 4k.
Blanca Lake is going to be a zoo next summer.
Glacier creek road got fixed as well I hear.
Oh hey! Thats some good news for sure

Sort of, it's a temporary fix where they just put up some cones along the edge of the washout and added gravel so that people can drive further from the riverbed. Citizens for Forest Roads offered to do the same repair 2 years ago at no expense, the FS said "no", then eventually decided to do it with their own budgets. But it could washout again at any time.
Got some turns up there 2 weeks ago but also hit a ton of rocks. It might start to be worth it after this storm cycle.
This is the way.
Usually people move here after visiting Seattle in August and it’s just 70° and a light breeze from the Sound. They think, “what the fuck, how did I not know this? Skiing so close, great rivers, beautiful weather, I’m moving!”
Then winter comes and they fucking lose their mind.
Well maybe I'm the faggot America
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda
Actually, my point was the opposite of that. That day was a rare occasion for up here, but at the time I thought it might be more the norm. Coming from Colorado where you just hope some random clouds actually form together into a system and drop some precip, my kayak obsessed self at the time was loving it.
