Snowmass and Highlands fairly easily? We don't have a car booked.
Yes - the public transit in the RFV, IMO, is excellent. Just walk over to the Rubey Part transit center and grab either the Snowmass bus or the Highlands bus.

You're good with bus service from where you are to anywhere you may need to get to pretty much.

    We tend to apre at:
    Highlands Ale House when there
    Limelight Snowmass when there
Have not apred in Aspen this year... will need to fix that.

Any can't miss NSR tips? Really loved the skiing and town last time there but it was a little over 10 yrs ago and I'm sure things are different town wise. What's the best non-douchey places to grab a drink now apres and later? Caught moe. at the Belly Up last time which was amazing, but looking for this weekend its spendy for nothing great or sold out so that doesn't look to be in the cards.

Thanks for humoring the dumb questions .
Non-douchey places have taken a massive hit here in the last few years, but we still have some so-so options: Mi Chola, Public House, Zanes, Brunelleschi's. Jbar and Limelight Aspen are good too, but have the hotel crowd.

I'm headed up to Buttermilk this afternoon with 4th graders to scout for leftovers. My wife and I skinned up to the West warming hut last night for some bubbly. Creamy, wonderful groom on the way down

Legs getting a wee little powder workout this morning. Snow is more like what I'm used to in the PNW. It's all good though!

Forgive the crummy cell phone pics.

    Holy empty slopes Batman!.

I do remember from my last time out there , it was a 9in fresh day in a fairly lean year, and I was shocked how long it took to track and how uncrowded it was compared to LCC where most of my big powder days have been

Last time I was up at Snowmass we went over and poked around in the Campground area - I could see that being some REALLY nice skiing with all the additional coverage they've had since we were there.

Great advice for today. The wind got to the upper mountain. Campground is always protected.

Hi guys, I will be out there for closing week of Snowmass in April at the Limelight. I will see Shreadhead again. I have spent time everywhere skiing out west. In one more year, I will have worked at my hospital as a night shift pharmacist for 20 years in Noblesville, Indiana.

So, I finally I get to move to where I want to live. Western slope of Colorado. I cannot afford Aspen or Steamboat. I can probably use my 30 years of hospital experience to get a job somewhere. I am applying for a Colorado pharmacist license. I am asking you guys if there is a demand for hospital workers in your area? I am looking for a decent house for my wife and I. I am considering Glenwood, Durango, Gunnison. My wife, aka the Gremlin is from southeast Colorado (Hasty, Lamar el Horrendo). But now her relatives live in Del Norte.

Any recommendations? I have plenty of time.

And when we were there it was a "busy" weekend day... and Campground was quite literally deserted.

There's 20 years of your life you'll never get back.

I'd personally select Glenwood from that list, but I'm kind of a sucker for the RFV.

Quite windy out there for sure. I didn't end up skiing with the kids; maybe tomorrow.

My wife's a PT here in Aspen so she's relatively privy to the medical world discussions and happenings in the valley. Definitely plenty of demand valley-wide with AVH, VVH, Steadman's growth in the mid valley and whatnot. I feel like there has to be good demand for pharmacists, though I know Clark's market here in Aspen just closed their pharmacy. Durango and Gunnison are sweet, just a bit more remote of locations. Glenwood has pretty solid access for skiing, along with GJ/Denver, Utah, etc.

More regionally, if you were based in Glenwood, you'd be within an hour of a lot of options: VVH right in Glenwood, Steadman outpatient and AVH further up the RFV and then the Steadman spot and Cancer center in Edwards, Vail Hospital and Steadman in the Eagle valley; then also Grand River Health and even St. Mary's in GJ not that much farther than AVH or Vail.

Upper Mtn definitely wind affected. Some of the better runs were the two laps off Sam's nob before working my way over to Alpine Springs and the upper lift which I am having trouble remembering ATM. Some nice just below the knee fluffy turns. Nice to get some powder midweek. Last 3 ski vacations I had only one powder day and it was a Saturday last day of the trip, so this trip has been awesome.

bingo was good - there was funky slabby everywhere.
sure is fun trying to figure out who everybody is -

I don't trust the forecast - feel like its been 4 weeks of underperforming epic forecasts resulting in
    great skiing anyway.

christened the line 118's today - wish i had been on something more 100ish.

great season - stoked for the world cup actually.

thanks, this makes me feel not so insignificant. I can do alot. I run Epic, I can learn Cerna. I have been part of the code blue team. I see people die. And I am good at it. But, I dont have to be a pharmacist anymore.

My fault. We are bringing the record setting -28f from VT with us (despite the fact it's like 50 there now)

I got out on Ajax from 10:30-11:30, totally empty and ski onto every lift.

Really nice pockets of boot-deep snow on skiers right in the Dumps. I skied Zoot Chute into Short Snort: so good. The Face skied pretty nice and Corkscrew+Henry's untracked at 11:30. Not a deep "pow day," but very fun.

    Great skiing and nobody out.

All of the western slope, is pretty dope.
But downtown Aspen is off the hook.
They’re are so many arts, events, bars/restaurants and outstanding recreational opportunities.
You should try to live there for year.
Getting a job will be easy. Positive cash flowing, might not be easy in the short term. But most of us hang on and it turns out pretty good.

Anyone know the official/unofficial policy on using the Ruthies restaurant deck and if it'll be accessible this weekend due to FIS prep? Looking to have a little get together on Ajax and want it to be byob which rules out sundeck or bonnies. Buckhorn cabin is AspenX-ified and all booked out, so seems like Ruthies or the picnic tables further down Buckhorn are the two best options but don't want to step on any toes

The picnic tables and chairs above international have always been good for us for what you describe. Only issue is you are always in the shade until late spring.

Good day at Highlands. Decided to follow these people. They seemed to know where to go.

    And, they were right!

Cold smoke pow was being served up. And it was freaking cold!

Definitely best pow of the trip. Worth the effort. Sun and not much wind.

Been a good trip so far.

I know several pharmacists here. Some work for AVH, who is usually hiring and some work for hospitals all over the country as they are too small to keep a pharmacist on staff. The local pharmacies are typically looking for staff too. I don’t think you’ll have too hard of a time

What day, time and how many?
I’d just act like you know what your doing.
I’ll check if they have the tables out and shoveled tomorrow.
