Pow turns were had (a few) at lunch time. Nice to be out there again. Time for the annual "Mind the ropes, defeat the temptation" reminder though. Just got bad news a work friend broke his leg on an off trail lurker today. Man that sucks.
Think I can join Monday the 5th too, would be good to have a mag meetup. Hoping to have most Mondays free from 10am on, maybe we can get out a couple times BB.
I have a buddy pass or two to share, you are welcome to one SinglecrossDay Man. Fighter of the Night Man. Champion of the Sun. Master of Karate and Friendship for Everyone.

Sorry to hear.
Today was surely a day for that. Snowpack has really consolidated in the last 10-ish days.
Then today’s 12-16 of super-light snow covered lots of things up with minimal density.
I was skinning and didn’t even have to lift my poles—the snow that fell was as light as any i’ve ever felt…at least where I was this morning.

Fuck yesterday was a challenge to stay safe. Outta town for 4 weeks and zero snow knowledge warned me off.
I still had to cross a line with a friend for 10 horrible turns in the light foot over a super tacky midlayer.
Sticking to the fluff pillows on the groomers was really nice though. When the chop started in earnest, lotsa locs bailed, only because 5 laps was a real leg workout for the FOG's.
Sucks about a broken leg, damn. A good reminder to just reel it in for a little while longer.
Thanks UaN, glad to be home. Swing by soon, got some things for you.
Are we gonna have a mag Singlecross shindig, I think we should. Thanks to Ullr for a good start and welcome to the valley.
Schindler, holler when making laps.

I’ve got a ticket for Monday 12/5… looking forward to getting back to Jackson and meeting some folks. It’s been a good long while… Too long.

You're right, for sure.
I'm not good at handling changes. I'm already missing the good old days when Bobcat was hike to terrain and the cat tracks on Sac were skinny. It's mostly my own short timer opinions, but its def tainted by some ski buddies that have been here way longer than I have. I'll try to get over myself.
The past three days have been awesome.

Doesn't feel like the winter season can begin until you are home and skiing!!
Deep snow, no tracks, no rocks, cold temps (~5F).
I know this is gonna be extra-triggering for some.... the long pole's reflection in the goggles!
^^^ This guy's been on snow 29 days so far — most of them pow days! Impressive!

As I remember, we had a record February at the village 2 years ago. The good old days are never that far away.
Deep snow, cold temps, low crowds, turns with buds. That's good living.
Nice shot of some Teton pow trenchtown. Love it.

100%!
There are lots of people here, quietly killing it.
Yes & as far as "it used to be better": I heard that this November will go on record as one of the top 2 or 3 coldest Novembers in recorded history, as well as one of the snowiest.
I've had plenty of good powder days in October/November over the years, but I have never had *as many* great pow days in one 5-week early season stretch as we've had this season.

JACKSON 2022/23 {Tetons, Snakes, Gros Ventre, Winds, Wyoming Range, etc.)
woohoo JH is going to open everything on Saturday aside from Thunder.
I imagine they have a goal to get that opened by the holidays but anyone have any intel? They were running the lift and it had chairs on it when we were skiing Monday.
We’ll probably line up early on Saturday. probably not quite Djongo early but incoming mags holler.
Singlecross- do you have peeps set to ski with on your planned Ghee day? If Sunday is still the planned day, I could be convinced to come over. I love a good excuse to ski the ghee
edit to add that I just read that they plan to open thunder on 12/10skid luxury

I have no special info, but the Buckram article said "The new Thunder lift ... is set to open Dec. 10. A ribbon cutting and party is planned Dec. 17."
Days when the Tram is open and Thunder is not can be some great riding when one gets up the mountain early!
The article also stated "The new Thunder lift will be about twice as fast as the old one...". I happened to ski with the Poma rep overseeing the project; he mentioned that uphill capacity increased to only 2,200 from 1,600/hour (~38%).

Snow looks dreamy!
When I first read the Buckrail comment, I read it as "2x uphill capacity," which I couldn't reconcile with the rep's statement. After a re-read I realize that while they may have implied 2x capacity, they didn't specifically say it. #plausibledeniability
