+1 at the top of LL right meow, and raining hard....

If this cools down overnight and keeps precipitating it might be really good. Or really not good.

2022/23 Canadian Rockies and related locations thread..

Yeah was supposed to rain at Fernie too. Skied Marmot 2 yesterday. Fantastic conditions. Whole mountain was just brilliant for April.

Looking like they’ve already started cutting down trees and prepping for the new knob chair foundations. To the right of the knob.

Louise backside was actually skiing really really nice today (not the typical dust on crust we’ve been getting lately) and should only get much awesomer over the next couple days. GO!!!

TD, what goods are you bringing us over the week?

Stayed away from the obvious dangers this week. Focused on start up operations for work. Sky’s are clearing…avy danger is subsiding from high but still needed due diligence required. Moving deep to our for-fathers territories at a remote but famous Rockies hut, hopefully these next few days getting in a few Rockies classics under blue skies and good decisions. All a pipe dream this season, till infield assessment determines the next move…crampons, ice axe, harness and gear rack is packed but always need to consider your motives to ski for another day or season my friend. Pack is always heavier than it should be.

    Ski u later.

    Thanks @Stuntmonkey for the update!

Headed to Marmot on Sunday for the first time in ~15 years. Looking forward to skiing the new Cirque terrain. How long is the walk into Marmot 2? I assume it's a relatively obvious up and over from the Knob chair?

Sounds like conditions were pretty good last week - anyone been up recently and have up-to-date conditions update? Any areas to avoid?

Marmot noted today that it is the last day for Upper Basin, the Peak and Peak right so the direct hike up the Peak and across to Marmot 2 is out. Marmot 2 is still open (north facing) and the access is by traversing across from the top of the Knob chair then hiking a cat track then boot pack. Not much difference in time just a different route. Some snow this week, sun came out today, good conditions no real melt out yet , consider it early spring conditions

skied LL yesterday and was still VERY good and winterlike on the higher N facing slopes. ER6/7 and WH 2 A-D are still in full winter mode.

the 30+ cm in the past few days sure helped.

^ Yeah, we were there all weekend and saw a dozen tracks of rope duckers leading into the area.

Outside that, back bowl of LL were skiing amazingly. I've also never seen so little people on the hill over the weekend. I had a fantastic time just messing around. Rock Garden was super fun all weekend.

I hope the rope duckers are feeling guilty after what happened to the people who followed their example.
