How do I remove these baskets?

Armada adjustable poles - the baskets ripped to shreds after just one season of light backcountry skiing. They're not the usual twist-lock baskets - does the whole body (black part included) come off or can I rip off the green part somehow? The green part spins freely and the black doesn't move.

And I emailed Armada about replacements (there are no Armada-specific ones online that I can find) but are there any generics I can just buy online?

    Thanks.

Those baskets are pushed on from the bottom. It usually takes some force to get them over the black ring that holds them on.

To remove, normally standing on the basket and pushing down will do it, with a stout basket.
With a torn basket, it's often easier to just cut it off with a sharp blade, x-acto, etc.
Cut vertically or parallel with the pole.
Check your shops for slide on baskets, they should be plentiful.

I think you could also heat it up and it should come off pretty easily. Either put the tip in boiling water for a little while or hit it with a heat gun.

For replacements, DJ's advice is best, talk to your shop.

No matter the chosen route, a bit of lube may help your cause. Just don’t lube up you paws before handling a heat gun or sharp knife.

Hot water and a pair of pliers since there's not much to grab. Just running it under the hot tap has worked for me, but a dip in some boiling water should make it easier.

Can cut them off too since they are destroyed anyways.

Same deal for putting the new basket on--get the plastic warm, grab edges with both hands, brace pole on ground, and work it back on there.

^^^^ is correct, except i just boil a big pot of water and then take it out to my patio for the pole basket soaking. I use oven mits to handle the warm/hot plastic, but your tolerance may vary.

I take pole baskettes off by holding up a pair of skis, putting the pole between the edges of a pair of loosely held skis, give the pole a good hard tug, you DO wana take close look to see if you will be destroying the ferrule that the baskette mounts to on the pole

I did just that. Local shop had BD baskets (75 and 100mm) and they put on the 100mm for me (these are touring poles so went with the powder big boys). $11 and the poles are back to life!

    Fkna, nice.

I never thought about the hot water idea, good call.

Maybe replaced 2 baskets in my life...

U can use a hot glue gun to securely attach the new baskets. Then boiling water for removal. Leaving the basket end of the pole next to a heat source can compromise the integrity of the glue. Maybe more important for xc racing though.
