I went out to Rockpile today and when I got to the top I was stopped by the view of all the snow in the Roof. I just stood there a gaped. So big and so smooth, Mostly I just ski and am oblivious; I've been skiing out here for 46 years and I've seen it all many hundreds of times but sometimes it grabs me and I stop and soak it in despite myself.
So got recommended a reconstruction with donor graft with Dr Ringnes. Anyone recommend a surgeon for a second or contrasting opinion?

No, but always be weary as it is a business.
Wish I had gone with a donor graft instead of a patella graft. But whatever— everyone is different.
Oh— and this thread is fucking baller. Keep it up, boys. Stay safe. And beware of rain. Actually— prepare for rain. Rain is going to flood things you didn’t know could be flooded.
Tahoe does this.
Definitively current. Here is Heart from yesterday. I passed, and Powdork, thanks for posting the vids of it getting skied. I study them!
I also checked out Upper Cham and backed off that as well yesterday. Still decent sized aair need to clear the cliff bands and too much cut up turbulence in the runout for me yesterday. I think it was Mogul was saying the wind maybe kept some ridgeline stuff from filling in the way you expect this season. I was satisfied with Once and Tremans, nice to get get those lines again.
Here's Vista looking fat and still unmolested yesterday morning.. Great day yesterday although sun crust and teh thickness came around in the afternoon.
oh and Patrol opened a gate off upper Hell's Delight where you could get into lower cirque and ski some of those cool finger chutes. I think that only happens once a decade or so..

I saw Doc Ringnes at my ER visit for staph (post surgery). Seemed like a reasonable guy. Dr. Dodds was my surgeon and was good to me (despite the infection). But my injury was just bones. What's the reconstruction for? My brothers doctor recommended he not use a donor and grafted some tendon from somewhere else in his leg for the ACL. Seems like a long recovery for him, but it was also his meniscus. Anyways gim central, JONG.
What a season. Every day I don't ski feels like a waste. Latest picture is from Signal on Monday. Got there a little late and the crust had set up on the main face. Cool hill. Little far from Tahoe tho.

IDK, but good luck getting in to see any doc around here (except for emergency care) in less than 3-6 weeks.
I'm trying to get lined up with a new general practitioner and was scheduled 6 months out. Yeah, that's helpful.
Even when I was trying to see specialists about injuries that needed timely MRIs, it was still 3 weeks out. BS.
I was able to get in to see an Ortho Doc down at Barton in SLT in 2 days back in Feb. Called on a Mon, appt on Wed. Not saying that's how it is now, but if it's urgent, make a couple calls.

OTOH you might wait months or even years before the bill comes in the mail.
Anybody in Tahoe need to up their snow blowing game?

Well that was unexpected lol
This obscure Tahoe cabin holds one of the longest sets of data on snowfall in the world, going back to 1878

GOTOS final boss.
How is Soul Searcher looking? That is a worthy line to hit up in these conditions. The top might still be wind thin, but I imagine the LZ is fat.
Thanks for the pics. Missing home. Glad to see Heart is still a bit of a bite.
I've never seen that upper gate open, even in big years. We used to call that the Closing Day Lines, cause in a good year, that would be the day to hit them. They would have a wood cut out of a patroller there, to dissuade. I mean, other guys used to to that.
OH - and all ya all renewing your Pali passes, shoot me a PM if you are interested in helping out a fellow maggot (not me, but someone else) this fall. Can't share details here, but can on PM. And if you are buying new, I can't help you save some money as well.
Thanks all for the replies. Yep, ACL. I know about gimp central but wanted local knowledge about docs. Have a date lined up for the surgery that's only 7 weeks after the injury [emoji849] so plenty of time to get a second opinion.

May be far but Dr Akizuki in SF is the team ortho for the Giants and did my wife's ACL Feb 1. She was hit from another skier on December 14th at PT on her first day out. He is awesome, takes his time and is a great Doctor and and all around great guy. We got lucky as he was a recommendation from my neighbor. He explained all the options from patella, quad, hamstring and donor. She went with the quad.
I know a lot of people that rave their experience w dr a. Cant go wrong with him
This thread right now… that’s what I’m fucking talking about! Feels like the TGR I originally signed up for.
(Oh and vibes on the knee as well)
