I have batteries to store electricity (2 Tesla powerwall). Those that didn't have storage batteries had a hard time after the storm passed as it remained cloudy for several days afterwards, which obviously limits power production.

Last I heard, the entire province of PEI was without power.
I saw pictures of entire sections of power poles blown over in Nova Scotia.
Newfoundland lost houses to the ocean.

I'm pretty far inland and just had a very windy day. I spent 5 hours cleaning up my mountain bike trails.

Ya okay, Scituate is the heart of the Irish Riverira. And you might want to check out just how lower middle class Fifth Ave was back in my day. We grew up with very little money in a cold ass salt box. Summer was awesome for sure, living there in winter and spring was another story.

Well looking more and more like Tampa gets hit by at least a glancing blow. If it goes as predicted right to the N of the bay with the East side of the storm pushing water straight into the Bay this is going to be a really really bad storm. I didn’t realize that metro Tampa has almost 3 times the people as metro New Orleans until today.

It looks bad (and is really going to suck for a lot of people), but not as bad compared to many of the scenarios shown in the nhc storm surge risk maps for Tampa Bay. Forecasted inundation looks to be between their cat 1 and cat 2 extend/severity.

Noaa was considering putting one of their facilities at the airport there and chose not to because of the flood risk and the risk of not being able to access for facility in the case of severe flooding.
