My oldest came out for a lap yesterday.

    Her first time skiing up.

    It was “ok”.

Which for a 14 year old is pretty good.

She thinks she might want to do it again.

So great! Yes, "ok" for a teen is a win, particularly for any uphill skiing! Well done

Ok - so it’s not where we would like it to be- but the south side of Ashman was worth the trip.

    It’s a start

    That is awesome.

The other child has some boots that fit, just need to find some smallish touring skis/skins or an adapter and I am sure she would love to do a little tour with yours sometime.

By love, I mean complain loudly and repeatedly, and have a great time nonetheless.

Well he won his heat- first time out of the heats after 3 yrs on the national team!

Got taken down in the semi- was a bit banged up for the small final I think but ended up with his first top 10 wc points! Super proud uncle time!

Open! Great early season conditions. Lot's of pow. Didn't manage to stray too far from the ski area but had some great runs with Maisie and got some exercise. Hit Hangover about an hour after opening and still had a pretty fresh line. Deliverance was very nice. Reports from everyone venturing about that things in the backcountry were very good indeed. A surface hoar layer apparently can be found in the odd spot (not sun or wind hammered). Lt knee's feeling a bit not great but seeing knee guy beginning of Jan.

Hoping to get as many miles as I can before the knife, so that means camping out when I can. Look for my camper in the new upper lot most saturdays and sundays and the main lot on Thurs, Fridays.

    Nicely done!
Doing some extreme skinning too I see.
Shames doing great, how's HBM these days?
Got a mag coming Jan 6,7,8. You guys should come west for a ski, we could have a summit !

Meh. more rain freezing up to 2300m. I need to replace the caulks from all the dog walkin' on ice.
Bailed on the new years hut trip, which is ok since I just was looking to mount some skis and noticed my boots have a massive crack in them. horray for boxin' day sales.
Good luck in Smidders, and Terrass. I hope you get some snow.

AP- my little wants to do a tour with yours. Let me know when/if you are in.

I am thinking a lap on the prairie to start things off and hopefully a trip to the Hankin cabin if we get some coverage.

Holy fuck. Moose pit... It's like I seen a ghost.. welcome back bud.

So shames went from zero to hero last night. Certainly not uncommon, but also certainly unwelcome. Shit damn, I was going to spend another few nights up there.

Planning on hitting hanken on Jan 3, heading up around 11 am if any of you guys are looking for an easy up.
Jan 2 seeing my knee guy so that's awesome.
Tri-ungulate is coming Jan 6 - 8 after an NEH ski.

    Hope HBM dodged the rain!

Any of you northerners around this coming week? We are up for a Burnie Glacier trip on the 29th, planning to ski Hankin-Evelyn tomorrow (Monday) then head to Terrace and Shames.

the HBM ski hill groomers are pretty good and the weather has been awesume

You might wana check on snow coverage for Hankin cuz the elevation is a little lower

You also might wana check if Shames is still running

Hey homemade! Welcome. Sadly, Spring has come with a vengeance here. Shames will be open Sat and Sunday but that'll be it for the season. They are considering not even opening the t bar this weekend . Won't matter much for you guys though as you're going into Burnie anyway. Haven't skied now for almost 2 months due to knee surg, but the touring is likely not bad with melt freeze happening. Having said that, once the thaw happens at noon (earlier if you were on a big south face), things may get spicy for avi hazard. I did see cooling and some precip for Monday though so maybe some snow up high. Though the lifts aren't spinning you can still skin at Shames, it'd be worth it to see the area for sure. I'm around but booked Monday wed and Thursday evening. Love to have you over for a beer if it works!
