Searched and found nothing on this specifically.
Genuinely confused. What are the devs of bots looking to accomplish by having them post gibberish in dead threads? How does this thing work?

swing your fucking sword.
This is only a guess, but I imagine the end goal is one/both of these: manipulate Google search results and/or spam the forums directly. I assume the gibberish posts are just padding their post count and maybe seeing what they can get away with. I usually don't see straight gibberish though, more like poorly written OT posts.
ESL contractors in a low income country who get paid by post count more likely than AI

I believe another purpose is some bots are intended to make sites appear to have more traffic than they do so that the site owners get more ad revenue. So maybe the bots are from TGR.

I don't think this explains the bulk of bot stuff, but I do know on large forums ei reddit people will create bots to get high post counts (and in reddits example, karma) to then sell the user names to spammers/scammers. (An account with high post counts / karma has a louder voice than brand new accounts)
