I thought Vegas controlled play for most of the game and the Dallas goalie really kept them in it the first ten minutes. Could have easily been 3-0 there.

Lots of weird bounces for both teams all night so that adds some drama into things. Too many ticky tack penalties called IMO.

Like in the Edmonton series I think if Vegas sticks to their game and stays out of the box they will win.

I'd like to se VGK be more aggressive late in the third with a one goal lead but then I've never coached a team to best in the West or taken one to the Cup finals so I guess Cassidy knows what he's doing. (Factoid discovered googling Bruce Cassidy--Jacksonville once had a team called the Lizard Kings. And don't worry--I won't thread drift to the Doors.)

Yeah. Same. They don’t seem to do very well in 6 on 5, but they only have a middling PK so that probably is part of it. They are really bad at clearing pucks in those situations

I also much prefer chip and chase over chip and change when your team is only up by one...

When they do clear it's just to the neutral zone and they're not contesting there, just sitting back for the next rush.. If I had to block that many shots I'd be asking to be traded (after I got to skate the Cup around the rink.)

Oof. Another tough one for Carolina. Hoping they can pull it together and save us from another year of a Florida finals team.

Cassidy says he keeps telling the team that "winning hurts" in the playoffs. They all know what they are signing up for. Martinez has led the league in blocks a bunch of years in a row. Their ibuprofen bill must be astronomical.

Matthew Tkachuk is making me wish I didn't miss game 1. I forgot to record it. As luck would have I always set my records for the playoffs 3 hours after the 1st time slot hoping for many OT's and I fuckin missed out. OT playoff hockey is like a drug I can't get enough of. Damn

OTOH the Panthers are kinda making the Florida resentment thing fade away but then I think of the Bolts and it just rears its ugly head. If I admit my snobbery towards these southern latitude teams is really jealous then I know I'm the problem not these teams. It's tough you know. Kudos to the Panthers.

Wow Bobrovsky 2, Carolina zero. Canes are generating plenty of excellent opportunities but not getting past Bobo. SOG 20 to 1 in the first period. Similar shelling period 3 only to lose in O/T again.

Barkov's goal to tie it up was nasty. What a move!

Agree! I'm OK with FLA winning as long as they do it without the cheap shots that didn't get called in the Toronto series. Refs have buttoned that shit down in this series so far. I'd be much happier if my home team could find an answer to Bobo, but losing to better hockey is acceptable. If this is the end for Carolina it was still an excellent showing. We still don't have a net minder who can steal a game or two the way the cream of the crop can.

Defense wins championships. Probably the most universal truth in all of team sports..

That game was fucking awesome. VGK played like shit the whole game but score one late, dodge a bullet 30 seconds into OT and then end it.

Wonder what Cassidy put in the Biosteel with 5 to go--some sort of amphetamine I'm guessing. (And why would anyone want to drink something callled Biosteel.)

Jamie Benn may not be playing hockey again this year after that cross check to the jaw.

Classy of Dallas fans to throw their beers onto the ice. At least you know the economy is still in good shape if they are willing to waste all that money.

Vegas sort of broke Edmonton at the end of that series, and seemingly did the same to Dallas last night. Although, the Kraken certainly did their part in that as well.

I think Vegas is so physical in the forecheck and so solid across the middle on D that it’s got to be really tough to play against that night in and night out during a series.

I'm pretty disappointed in in Benn's cheap shot more than I am about my all time favorite team losing to someone playing better hockey. I'm all for playing hard nose hockey but vicious hacks on someone in a defenseless position has no part in any sport. I didn't see it yet but I'll take the word of friends who did.

Vegas did that to the Avs 2 years ago, too. They were the team I was most worried about as an Avs fan (although my expectations this year were realistic given all the injuries).

Stone seems like a player you love to have on your team but would hate to play against. Not surprised he got under Benn's skin.
