What mountains have an after school ski program or weekday kids team

    Mags,

I tried searching for this on the forms, but everything is "School me in______" so, School me in after school ski programs (or the like).

We've got some flexibility to spend a chunk of time in a ski town this winter and are interested in a low key experience where there is an after school ski program or similar (perhaps a Jr team?) I've heard about them at a few hills, but figured the collective here could give me some better beta. Our two oldest will be 6 and 7 and they're competent skiers for the age and living full time in the dirty south. We spent 6 weeks skiing A-Basin when they were 3 and 4 (the older skied top to bottom on easy blues last day we skied) and covid has made getting back out west tricky ever sense. We'll be homeschooling them all winter and it'd be great for everyone involved to get them out with other kids and an instructor a few days a week.

We were tempted to go to SLC as they have winter BMX, another thing the kids are into. Skiing with the kids is fun basically anywhere and so while it'd be fun to end up someplace with rowdy terrain, I'm older and lamer than I used to be so a place with a relaxed family vibe is preferred.

Thanks in advance for the beta and all the useless asshat comments.

Steamboat, maybe? They do after school training. My kiddo is in the race program at Eldora and they have training under the lights one or two nights a week.

Lots of resort town schools have a weekly ski day or ski afternoon.

Check on Steamboat both resort and winter sports club. Both are good options.

    Sure enough...good beta, thanks.

"The most convenient ski and snowboard lessons offered in the valley, students simply take the Activity Bus from school to the Snow King bus stop. From there, our friendly staff will help them get ready for the slopes. Our 11-week, after-school ski or snowboard programs are available for grades K-5 and help kids build on skills they learn week to week with a focus on fun. Our 11-week ski program for kids 4-5 years old is also available. Students are grouped according to their ability within their age group."

Payette Lakes Ski Club in McCall Idaho has a nice program. Not a pretentious operation, but they produce great lifetime skiers.

I like your description of that! Seems affordable and it's cool to see their scholarship program and local community centered approach.

I don't know much about Brundage, but seems could have a good vibe and be fun for a winter.

    Thanks for the beta.

Brundage is nice. It has very loyal fan boys that rave about the snow quality, but I find the runs somewhat short. I usually go there (and Tamarack) a couple times a season to break up the monotony of only skiing Bogus.
