And in fact, I earlier texted the quote above about “hatefuck” to a friend about how that accurately reviews a ski. Congratulations Kid-kapow on a brilliantly now coined term.

pins and skins has a plum yak on a nocta, he’s turning them into straight resort setup though and pinged me asking if I needed the yaks, I want them but don’t need them so some one should buy those yaks, I have a set on my Ferox but I’m starting to think about just selling my ferox and getting a 185 nocta to put yaks on.
oh and my nocta 190 has a duke PT on them, I wouldn’t term it as full on touring with them but perfect for side country and quick little shit my heart desires when searching.
Anyone mount their Camox FB or Navis FB forward of the line? Thoughts? I’m considering a +1.5 remount.
I used to get along well with my Camox but after a few years of skiing more progressive skis (Atris, Nocta, Anima FB) I’m feeling like I’m a little behind the sweet spot when skiing steeps (which is generally what I use the Camox for). Current setup on Camox (178 cm) is Salomon MTNs and Scarpa F1 XTs.

Ya, I understand that, that’s why I have a duke pt on mine. The hate fucking though, good luck with that. Nocta won’t do it. There’s a reason I have two bodacious in my quiver…. Those hate fuck like the Corvus.
Thanks for the shoutout Joey! And yes, you're still first in line in case you change your mind...
And Halliday, yes I believe I had these for sale at some point, mounted them, toured them, and now they're on sale again! Nothing wrong with the bindings, I actually really like them, but for how my current quiver is, they will need a new home.
Looking for $325 shipped, the 115 brakes will be included (bent slightly to fit 122)
Or for $375, I can also throw in both the stomp pad/brakeless heel kit and the 135 wide brakes (both new)

Oh sorry, G3 Zeds! I like them, I've actually got 3 pairs of Zeds mounted. I'm 205lbs without gear, I dont ski super fast, but I love slashes and jumps and drops - and the Zeds hold me in for the most part when cranked to level 13. Do I wish for a little more retention? Sure, I do, but thats the compromise. I go brakeless and use leashes on the decent which I also recommend. Oh and the stomp-pad is critical on the Zed. Without the stomp pad the DIN is effectively half. I might try the ATK Evo15 next year to get that extra retention but for now the Zeds just function so damn nicely as a touring binding.
Ok one thing you need to know about touring on the Nocta... the ultra-low swing makes for improved energy efficiency and comfort on the skin trackI mean that literally. Its a total delight. I have other skis with "low swing weight" but the Nocta is next level in that regard and you can feel it as soon as you click into the pins and start moving around. Having the weight more-so under your boot and less at the extended parts of the system is a better feeling to walk with and consumes 0.1% less energy. The full rocker profile might also contribute to the effect. Solid as subjective science gets!

my final verdict on Atris 184s is that they are a bit too soft for my liking / to ski a wide set of conditions like I would like them to. So the low tide ski search continues. The next contender will be Sender Free 110s and possibly the new koala103 - time will tell.
I took them out in deep slush and sunbaked variable/kinda corny snow, and I found them to struggle. Not as much as koala103s that were no fun at all - too stiff and light, so just deflects or gets stuck - but woodsman110s were better than both by a fair margin. A slight bump in the Atris' stiffness and weight would probably make them be a fair bit stronger in difficult snow.
Still, I really like them at +1 - very good skis (if no good at all at recommended for bsl 296 imho).
You might want to look at Line Blade Optic 104. Personally I haven't skied them yet, but spent a few days on Blade Optic 96 in 184 and was impressed by their versatility. Very nice combination of weight, side cut, rocker profile and dampness.

yeah, a blade optic 104 + 114 quiver was def on the radar, but I decided to try blackops118 + sender free 110s instead![]()
Time will tell if that was the right call or not - I could've bought a pair of blade optic 114 186s dirt cheap, but passed on them to try blackops instead.
If Atris is too soft, you could possibly give the Solis a try, although the 180 may be too short for you. I use it as my inbound ski (with P15s) and god, does it rip! They share similarities to the Corvus in how they ski but has more pronounced rocker profiles on both ends for floatability. They pivot and smear with ease as they have so little camber (almost none on my 23 model) but can still edge and carve. Given the construction and the long radius, you can also point and shoot with recklessness. Varuste has the 180 size on sale for dirt cheap right now.
my only confusion arises from the fact you haven’t gotten on a Corvus….. unless you have and didn’t disclose it, for some reason I think you might like that for a low tide daily driver. A 183 skis true to length, the 188 is a little more of a handful but rips. I may have just pre-ordered a new 188 last night…..

Anyone have experience with the new noctas compared to v2? Not sure if they ski short or true to size.
