OK so they fell from the early 90s, then remained at a lower than previous several decades level while still fluctuating slightly, with a bit of a rise before the pandemic and a huge jump during the pandemic.

    This seems pedantic.

Perhaps if you articulate exactly how they are in an objective way they might be willing to listen. They definitely will not listen to someone who is incapable of doing that.

This is how mentally challenged the NRA has made people. Completely skips over the most fundamental issues of "well regulated". The Mayonnaise Militia thinks more guns are the answer

Drug od's, violence of any sort regardless of weapon as long as its drug or gang related, (fatal stabbings are more common by more than threefold than shootings by rifle), and I'm sure even some suicides are directly related, let alone deaths from poor health caused by drug (not alcohol) addiction.

I'm pretty sure if you add up all those, it absolutely dwarfs anything else, and the numbers would shock just about anyone. But those stats aren't compiled. No one wants to think about it. Plenty of funding to study and compile stats of gun deaths by the very well funded anti gun crowd, and some amount of funding to compile stats on valid self defense usage of a firearm by the pro gun rights crowd, but no one seems to want to know what the true cost of the drug trade and gang violence is.

Meanwhile the ultrarich make money on every single part of the failed war on drugs, both legally and illegally. The prison industrial complex is profitable for them, but the major US banks have all been caught knowingly laundering cartel money as well, and if they're doing that as institutions, I am sure there are bribes to powerful individuals as well, including our lawmakers and law enforcement.

But its too terrifying to face this reality. In order to overcome it we would have to create some unity amongst the citizenry, and not just blame those with different ideologies than us. Politicians of both parties, especially the dems, rile up angst about the gun issue to generate funds and votes, but no one wants to actually tackle the drug trade in a non polarizing objective way because they aren't allowed to by their masters.
Plenty of research and stats on drug ODs & drug related violence.

As for non-overdose health related issues, that would be a tough breakdown.

Given that research, why doesn’t the NRA want research about gun ownership?

Que Leroy to argue that you’re wrong. With absolutely nothing substantial to add to the discussion.

Like Altasnob, he gets off on arguing with us here. It’s the ONLY reason he logs on to TGR. Same with Dunfree and SJGwon’tevershutthefuckup.

Yes! We need to solve every imaginable kind of potential human anger and mental illness scenario. Apparently that's more feasible than getting paranoid Americans to stop carrying guns everywhere..

I haven't seen a lot of details about the story above but you have to think, how many of those shots that ended up going into the crowd were a responsible gun owner(s) trying to "take down" an active shooter? Thereby causing as much or more injuries than the actual "shooter" would have. All of these idiots running around strapped so that they can play hero are just making everything worse.
If there wasn't a proliferation of guns, these situations wouldn't exist in the first place!!!

And a lot of the guns these troubled young adults and teens have were taken from the (often unlocked) cars and homes of those "responsible gun owners". Yes, absolutely making things WORSE!

Here's a good one a couple years ago.. SMDH..

AR-15, other items stolen from Ellmers' home
An unsecured semi-automatic rifle was stolen from Congresswoman Renee Ellmers' residence in Dunn last week.

Of course the appropriate response to guns getting stolen, is to go buy more guns. That way you may be able to protect your guns from being stolen with your "more guns".

SB is worried that if anything substantive were done to reduce gun violence he wouldn't be able to have all his cool toys. He's ok with the death toll because it doesn't affect him.
