I'm sure the houseguest was a responsible gun owner right up until he/she wasn't.

What I hear you say is that you're cool with kids shooting kids due to reckless behavior from adults.

Seems to me the city or school district could apply for a restraining order that keeps him away from school bus stops armed or otherwise

And apply for an extreme risk protection order. May not work but who knows

If only there was something we could do...

Nothing like posting provocative firearm signs on your car thinking “it’s just a joke” to encourage your fellow citizens to consider you a responsible and sane member of society who understands how threatening it is to display firearms in a public space

because everyone knows people feel safe when they see people they don’t know with guns in public

That ammosexual school crossing guard is protesting by obeying this new law?

"One of the bills signed by the governor prohibits most people from wearing, carrying or transporting a concealed gun in an “area for children or vulnerable adults,” like a school or health care facility."

It would be such a shame if a passerby saw a man with an assault rifle threatening kids and swerved his car to neutralize the target.

If that dude really wants to have an excuse to carry an AR-15 to guard kids going to school, he should move to the illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

    "You’ll hear from both sides"

There aren't "sides". This is a photo of man committing a crime. If the state of Washington lowered the speed limit to 55, and I continued to drive 70, saying "I'm doing this in protest" as a defense would be laughed out of court. Worse, it would actually anger the police and judge.

He only gets away with this because the cops are on his side.

I believe the law he is protesting (cant carry a firearm around designated childrens areas) doesnt go into effect until Oct 1st. So until then he is just a narcissistic, douchebag. On Oct 1st, if he keeps this up, he will be a criminal as well.

Right to the point. The weirdos think people are soothed by their presence. But normal people are not thinking: "Oh great, someone I don't know with overt displays of massive weaponry. Couldn't feel safer".

Lest this be news to the carry gun-fetish crowd: all rational people regard you as a nut.

Cross post w police behaving badly…back in the day, police were by and large pro gun control and very anti-rando AR douchbags. “If perceived” threat was no longer a justification and Police were on the hook for payouts instead of municipalities, I bet there would be a quick reversal back to majority pro gun control cops

How is wielding an AR at an elementary school bus stop not considered harassment/menacing? This guy can totally protest for a legal purpose without the firearm.

    Maryland harassment law:

    § 3-803. Harassment
    Prohibited

    (a) A person may not follow another in or about a public place or maliciously engage in a course of conduct that alarms or seriously annoys the other:

    (1) with the intent to harass, alarm, or annoy the other;

    (2) after receiving a reasonable warning or request to stop by or on behalf of the other; and

    (3) without a legal purpose.

    Exception

    (b) This section does not apply to a peaceable activity intended to express a political view or provide information to others.

    Penalty

    (c) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to:

    (1) for a first offense, imprisonment not exceeding 90 days or a fine not exceeding $500 or both; and

    (2) for a second or subsequent offense, imprisonment not exceeding 180 days or a fine not exceeding $1,000 or both.
