^^^ but back when America was "great" and all those things were supposedly paramount we also had the same common sense gun regulation progressives are asking for currently. i.e. took a LOT of justification for non LEOs to be allowed to legally carry.. and civilians didn't have access to the assault style weaponry that the military did.

Right? Pictures of anti-gubmint radicals holding "assault" rifles in the 60s are mostly pictures of Black Panthers holding shotguns and M1 Carbines. Couldn't have that, now could we?

    WTF?

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A 6-year-old male student is in custody and a female teacher in her 30's is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon following a shooting in the classroom at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, officials confirm.

Police chief Steve Drew confirmed to us that a 6-year-old first grade student has been identified as the shooting suspect at a 5:30 p.m. press conference. The chief also stated that the shooting was not accidental. No students were injured in this incident, which occurred around 2 p.m., police said, but tactical teams were sent into the building.
Newport News school shooting. Police say the teacher was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

"The police did an amazing job, they were here very, very quickly along with the sheriff’s office. We are ensuring that everyone is safe, we are ensuring that everyone is accounted for," said Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones. "This is a long day for Newport News. We’re going to ensure that everyone’s taken care of."

Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew also spoke with us, saying:

"All the children inside the school have been taken from the room with their teachers, and escorted to the gymnasium. They're all safe in there. They're actually in there with with counselors and officers. [They're] cutting up a little bit... It's good to see them laughing. We want to make sure that they're OK."
If this was a firearm from his home that wasn't stored properly, someone needs to go to jail.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

The only thing that stops a bad 6 year old with a gun is a good 6 year old with a gun!

    Obviously.

You’re a little behind on the current thinking. These days we want the teacher to be fully armed to stop this sort of thing.

Per a radio piece about this on my drive to work this morning the maximum penalty is a misdemeanor and 1 year in jail. Seems reasonable.

All because the stupid crackers are afraid to leave the house without a gun ... because of all the armed punks...

Well if the government wasn't infested with leftist pinkie commies that fine God fearing representative would have just been able to bring his pistols into the Capital like he should have and this wouldn't have happened!!
