I’m loving this thread. Memory lane.
I owned and loved a lot of what’s posted.
I forgot about cassettes.
Feel free to post your first cassette if that’s what your first album was.
For me cassettes are all about mix tapes.
My first tape was either Neil diamond or Simon and Garfunkel eight track tape.
Both were greatest hits

Hey, it was the ‘70s. I thought “If this guy is good enough for Pink Floyd, this should be good”.

It'a all pretty hazy but the first album I remember paying for was the Kinks Face to Face; still crank it for Sunny Afternoon if it pops up.
I think it was Hendrix Crash Landing, vinyl of course

Red Hots BSSM.
Accidently deleted my earlier post while trying to edit. First LP Records were Abbey Road by the Beatles along with the original Bad Company. Then got several Three Dog Night albums because in my hometown when growing up, a priest's son, Daniel Moore wrote Shambala for them. My first 8 Track was Foghat.
Blizzard of Ozz, this one is such a classic. Money well spent by 12yo me

I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Motion picture "Bye Bye Birdie" sound track LP.
Seeker of Truth. Dispenser of Wisdom. Protector of the Weak. Avenger of Evil.
Machine Head
Honestly hard to remember that far back. I am thinking it was a Steppenwolf double LP.
Quiet Riot.. the one with the dude in the straight jacket on it.
And some of you guys are making me feel young btw so thanks for that.
Green Onions by Booker T & the MGs.
First 45 was Kool and the Gang Celebrate, first album Dio Holy Diver then I started smoking weed and forgot the rest. Best gift album moment was when my sister got AC/DC new album for Christmas. I’ll never forget eating breakfast with Back in Black blasting on the big stereo.
American Pie.
I split it with my sister.

I was in the Columbia record club from a pretty young age, like 11 or 12, and I was as much of an airhead back then as now, so I would often forget to select records or choose not to get them that month, so I'd get whatever they were sending out that month. Heard a lot of different stuff at least.
It my not qualify, but the first album I ever got was for my 5th or 6ty birthday...Hard Days Night, by some brit band.
No idea the first LP I purchased myself since I lived in a neighborhood of music lovers, so had everything from Chubby Checkers on down at my disposal.
