I have a few friends who swear by Ayahuasca and credit it with turning their lives around.

To be clear, I'm strongly pro-drugs and very happy to see prominent public figures talking openly about positive drug experiences. But, ayahuasca does seem to have a propensity for creating nauseating levels of smug sanctimoniousness, and that's been rather characteristic of Rodgers' personality lately. Not making a value judgement at all and I'm glad it seems to have improved his life, but it does explain a lot. At least he didn't use the phrase "plant medicine."

You're not wrong, but I'll also say my two aforementioned friends are not those types at all. One was a real fuck up with some lingering depression issues and I swear he just did a complete 180 with his life after the experience. It's like it reset him.
