Ok so I ended up shimming the toes with 4,5mm plate and moving the binding approx 10mm behind Völkl's zero line. Tested yesterday and it was more or less perfect! Found it to be a huge difference. Sadly not much pow but at least approx 10-15cm in spots so can't say how they would feel on big day but I'm pretty sure it'll be fine. It's like a new ski now :-).
    Great to hear! 😃👍😎

I've got a buddy who's a Völkl rep in the midwest. Racer/examiner type of skier. That's the model and year he brought west for a few seasons when he'd visit. He held onto them for a while. I'd think they would be cambered underfoot.

    Double post

Also, thanks all for the posts about M6 vs M102. Leaning towards the 184 M6 or waiting for the new M7. I’d like too try a 177 M102 as well

Currently I remounted my 187cm Master Blasters from -1cm to +.5cm of the line to see if I like them better there

This should cover Montana next week. Really curious to see how the M7 rips on groomers in the afternoons.

Looking forward to your impressions of the M7. What length is it?

That's my buddies 184 that I just mounted in the picture. I have the 177 demo to ski. Another buddy is going to ski the 184 demo I have with.

I think I worded that incorrectly, sorry. Should have said, I am used to more progressive skis, most similar is a 187 96mm J Masterblaster.
Was wondering if a +2 mount on the M102 would make it feel a bit more like what I am used to.
I haven't had a chance yet to get them out and give them a ride mounted on the line.

Finally carved out the time and moved the M102 mount +2 yesterday. Should get the chance to try them in the next day or two. Picked up a pair of Rossi Black Ops 98’s in the meantime. Talking progressive mount !?!?!

I was riding on the chair with a friend with the new Mantra in a 170 and he has as much ski in front of his feet as I do on a 182 on the line. Those will likely go back. Might as well go back to mounting my own skis as every pair I’m on has required a second set of holes.

I can give you my two cents in the next couple of days. It looks much better to my eyes at +2. It’s a 20 meter sidecut, but still I struggled to engage it with out banking my weight way forward.

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I'm hoping to get out on them Tues mounted on the line

Last year my most used ski was the m102 184. This year I’ve largely switched to the mb187 (99/current version). Nice to have both. Just saying. They’re different enough.

    That's a good point, I have the 187, 96mm version.
Might just have to hit up the Corbetts sale and snag another set of pivots.
Just need to verify holes won't be overlapping

My guess at this point is I would have been better off on the 177. Moving up +2 definitely helped me manage the length better, but it feels like it’s in front of the radius of the ski a smidge. Just a little slow to engage. I’m going to run them over a good stone a few times and give them another shot in some better snow, better visibility. I want to love these skis just can’t get them to hook up the way I want.

After adjusting the Griffons to my bsl I am at about +1 on the 184. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I adjusted to this ski, not as planky and more versatile than I expected. Comfortable popping off rollers and I feel like I can get much higher edge angles in long turns than I can on my Masterblaster. I'm sold

I just rented some mantra m6 to bring to lake louise to see if they crush the low tide like I hope they will.

So those M6 really want to go!

They definitely hold an edge like crazy and can be released without too much effort, but I found them to prefer 1 turn shape more than other mantra series skis I have tried. I felt like the triple radius sidecut was the least apparent in this ski vs the K108, Blaze 106, Blaze 86, and Secret / Mantra 102 that I have also tried.

The speed limit of these skis is way above my speed limit, but couple that with what I perceived as a smaller set of turn shapes means that while I had fun, I don't think I will be buying a pair for myself.

    What length were you on?

I think you summed up the M6 pretty well, especially in relation to its wider siblings.

I’m on the 184 and find them much more eager to be on edge versus the M102 or K108. The M6 is also much more dynamic and quick, which makes sense due to the narrower waist and overall lighter weight. I haven’t even skied my M6’s this year since the new M102 has a similar demeanor but is just a bit more ski and bit more stable.

    177.

Which is plenty for me ... can't see wanting more on this ski. They already scared me with the speed they want so I would not want more length on these. I could be convinced to try the k108 in a longer length but I don't think so on the M6.

I had demo bindings on my pair and when I went from +1cm back to +0.5cm they became more dynamic and allowed slightly more range of turn shapes. I should probably have tried them on the line as well but I was sharing this ski with a buddy and he had them in the afternoon.
