Not complete BS. There is a section of denser wood in the area where marker bindings screw pattern is. A number of other bindings fall within that area, although many people have reported mounting bindings outside the pattern with no issues. The mount pattern is there though.

The graphic works quite well with Raw bindings as well, in case anybody was wondering.

My quiver lineup for this year will be a Kendo 88, Blaze 106, and a Revolt 114. My favorite skis in the past have alway be Volkl, so I'm going to give this combo a whirl.

Interested in Blaze106 as an EC tight tree ski…thinking I need something slarvy in between my 23’ Kendo88 and 14’ Katana112.

Has anyone skied the Volkl Mantra 2017/2018?
It has a full reverse chamber and got a not so great review at blister back in 2018. Now, I got one for very little money and wondering what the general opinion of that ski is.

I only just moved on from the M4 (what you have) Mantra to the M6 as my daily non-powder ski. The M4 is awesome…effortless medium radius carving, damp and predictable in mixed conditions, and with the gentle reverse camber it’s no slouch in the soft stuff.

I love them, they have been my daily drivers for the past two seasons. Great edge hold, good stability, easy going but semi-charger, good in bumps and soft snow with the full rocker. Very versatile.

So the m4 was in all essence a skinny katana. Problem was it was the wrong shape for the wrong expectations. Barely-rocker is king for abusing chop and fresh snow and trades hard snow performance, but mantra was neither heavy nor wide enough to stay atop or plow through. Buyers either wanted the unflinching hard snow weapon of the m3 or a less taxing big mountain stick and naturally came away disappointed the m4 was neither and frankly, the m4 is a relaxed, mid-road do-all that services entirely different types of skiers. Hence the m5's revere for being a refined m3, while the og katana is still a CDH.

I don’t think I’ve found the top end of the m6. But I do dial it back a little earlier than I would on the m102 or b97 (first year). It doesn’t have the stability of those skis. But that’s like saying a car that goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds doesn’t have the get up and go of one that gets there in 3.3.

100% agree. The OG M102 weighs more feels stiffer than the M6. I haven’t found their speed limit either. But when it’s the right kind of day for them, the M6 is so fun to ski.

Damn djongo! All on board with the new volkl lineup, eh? Love em so much you even got another pair of m102s?

Have you demoed the m6 yet? Assuming the red ones are the m6, that is.

Well yeah, I was a volkl guy for about 10-12 years thru the G4 - AC4 series.
But not for a while since.

Last years M102's worked so gotdam well before I put them in the shop (regret) that I got a 2nd pair. Hoping the factory tune will be the same.

Skied the m6 at eurobbi22 and loved it. Then got talked into proforming the M102's last year.

This summer leftovers of both models in the 191 languished as I ogled and tickled them. When they went on sale at the end of summer for 60% off, I snagged both pair.

But you know, I'll ski whatever is cheap or just available.

My mounted 102's a killing the Wrod right now. So there's that.

Oh, and they are all equally unflat on the bases. Wtf volkl?

Noticed this also on both my M102 and K108, but they seem to ski fine... Makes it very hard to tune the base edge though.

I eventually had the M102 ground flat but can't say I notice a huge difference.

I wax frequently and scraping a not flat base gets old.

That's where my regret began. Those skis, detuned less than usual for me, were unflappable anywhere last season. Until I went to have them flattened.

Been trying to dial them in ever since. Almost there.

Skied my M4s after 3 days on Katana 108s. M4s are almost noodley in comparison, but still have good stability. Hand flexing shows the opposite, with M4s being stiffer in hand. What a difference on snow.

M4s being relegated to bump ski, Katana 108 taking over daily driver spot

If as mentioned previously that Volk base bevels these to 1.4*, curious if you have tried that?

I only have a 1* base beveler and I haven't even gone full bore on that. I'm pretty close, maybe a B+/A- tune now.

It was A++ with extra credit tho.
